I feel bed for the younger generations

How do you settle down in this environment? How do you buy a house, have kids, make any kind of long term plan when your job could disappear next month? Endless layoffs mean endless uncertainty. And endless uncertainty means you can't build a life. Working at Dell offered a certain security for many of us that the new generations don't have.

Layoff updates

Does anyone have any updates from all CECs? Are we just waiting ducks? Or did we assume to soon about this week’s layoffs??

I am so confused about this week and how it will go. It’s sad that a company has everyone thinking the worse with just small changes. Smh

Monarch Tractor Headquarters Closes, Most Staff Cut

Monarch Tractor, an agricultural tech startup, faces an uncertain future. The company recently laid off nearly all its remaining staff. Its Livermore, California headquarters has been vacated and equipment auctioned. Monarch Tractor developed the MK-V, an electric autonomous smart tractor. The company had raised over $200 million and was valued highly less than two years ago.

Gentex Layoffs

3 team members and 1 upper management got layoff last week in Gentex. The reason was unclear but some say its because of it might have something to do with Gentex losing 42% of its stock value in 2 years. With the Iran, US and Israel war & tariffs, the future seems pretty uncertain as the stock keeps dipping.

The only reason to go along with rebadging is to buy a little more time

I've been job hunting for months. Calling the market "slim pickings" is generous, and it's only going to get worse. We're heading toward a place where beggars can't be choosers. Anything, anywhere, for any amount of time, will have to do.

Layoff total

Does anyone know the extent of layoffs that happened in the last few days? Was there any layoffs today also?

Different people are reporting differently. I’d appreciate if anyone has analyzed this and can share their findings. Someone is maintaining a running total from Slack (Thanks a ton!), and that says about 12,000 people were let go.

Terrible to hear about layoffs and see our coworkers let go. I hope this madness stops soon so we can focus on work. Tired of being on the edge for the last 6 months. Thanks!

Situation outside our bubble is dire

I would otherwise be out without a second thought. I don't know what your experience is, but there are barely any jobs out there. I reached my peak burnout just as there are no options left. Well, I'll just tread water here until better times, trying not to go nuts from having to show up here every day.

No point in trying to understand what they're doing

Or when the next round will hit, or how many they think it makes sense to cut. Leadership overextended. AI is a black hole they all fell into, and now they're operating on pure sunk cost fallacy. They may end up shooting themselves in the leg to save the arm. Basically, anything can happen in the near future, and none of it will be good for us.

None-Core layoffs?

Non-Core layoffs, who's actually been affected?
I'm a US-based remote employee in an SMBC Non-Core unit. I was certain I'd be laid off, but the axe hasn't fallen on me or several peers.
Is this a real stay of execution, or just a holding pattern before they sell us off?
