How much was invested in Viya?
A conservative guess:
10years$100,000annual salary30 developers=$30,000,000 salary investment
That is just a salary investment guess. No idea on the infrastructure investment(offices, hardware required pipeline software, etc)
For comparison. MVA which was a smashing success likely was way less of an investment.
More slideware than software IP
Altho i hv no stats, i expect we produce more slides on a daily basis than we do lines of code that actually build us any sort of IP.
And what's depressing is that most of the slideware is just rehash, update, and repackaging of the same old cr-p.
I'm one of the thousands of slide jockey here, so the irony of this post isn't lost on me but hey, tomorrow is another new week in which I'll do the same old sh-t as I've for the past many years.
Custom cr-p software
Why is every software project at this company a pile of custom spaghetti that some opinionated developer threw together without ever bothering to google other similar things people have built for reference? If it not that , it’s a wrapper of some kind with 1% of the features and they pretend they built it. Why does IT keep adding to the misery by imposing more nonstop migrations and more tickets to submit and more things breaking constantly imposing more worthless refactors? Why does no one seem to have heard of a software standard?
Is it just me? I mean I don’t blame people for quiet quitting around here. But can y'all do it a little quieter?
Google Workspace Coming mid-February 2026
Yeah, we’re sc--wed.
ConnectWise
Notified management has introduced a flop ticketing platform and for the past 2 years it's almost a chaos using it. Frankly speaking the work time has increased because of this platform. Simple tasks have become complicated. Hope the management trashes this time consuming worthless platform. Literally nobody speaks about this messy ticketing system.
SAP using ServiceNow
A buddy of mine telling how much SAP relies on ServiceNow to provide ticketing, knowledge and AI solutions. What's the deal with this as I thought this was SAP's bread and butter stuff. I believe Flexera and Coveo are also needed?
Heads Up Voyix
Here we go again..
is this illegal
is this illegal? uhc uses vendor software from american companies. my team in india uses the software as a basis to build inhouse software. upper management at uhc (mostly american) and optum (mostly indian) migrate to the inhouse app and sunsets the vendor software.
i don't think it's a straight copy that's being done but the software is extremely similar.
If there's no stability anymore, what's the point of staying at Oracle?
This is the demonstration that an employee working for a conglomerate like this count less than nothing, it’s just a record in a database, no matter is performance, pretty sad and cold given the myriad of talented people. I hope someone at top level reads this, but Oracle is well known for being a stable company with less than average salaries. People genuinely made this trade off, if stability is not the case anymore then why staying in Oracle. I know this would count less than nothing, but a bit of transparency is somehow due to the hard work!
Bumping this up for visibility. OP: @bk+1k2xjqvcz
if the Carbon Black brand and technology are so remarkable, why wasn’t there a buyer?
Because they’re cr—py?
