Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Java UI Guy

Gonna feed the troll, but...

To the guy that keeps posting on everything about the Java UI being the root cause of Xerox's decline...would you care to elaborate more than just a vomit emoji? I think you might have some really deep insights that could really turn this company around.

Yes it's still running at customer sites unpatched it's outrageous that x is selling it services into accounts that they knowingly own multiple vulnerabilities for..... I remember Fiery tried to tie it in to their for on the cipress and gave up too messed up complete rewrite needed that's what out at customers today folks...

Java gui ended the production biz of x - it was the DocuSP front end which was on all production devices. It was analogous to the star ship enterprise Rich Lauria was the guy who led that team I remember he always had a back room deal to fund the product even though efi fiery was windows. When x started to use scrum it was unavoidable for x to have to fund the customer requirements to have a windows dfe but the lauria messed that up and said mission accomplished java ui Windows look and feel. This is x in a nut shell it drove xeroids like java ui guy nuts....

Java UI guy is clearly focused on one product that is likely already end-of-life. There are (were) multiple products on the production side of the business that used various technologies for the GUI, some Java, some not. On the office side of the business the technology varies based on whether the product is Altalink or Versalink. No Java on Versalink, some Java on Altalink. Lexmark, as far as I know, doesn't use Java on the device, but I could be wrong on that.

We need to get JAVA UI guy on the xerox board. Im sure this disgruntled service tech will offer a ton of value to turn this ship around.

The FFPS GUI was motif at one time. It was changed to Java/swing, but was rewritten to use web technologies at least a decade ago, no client side Java.

I like java ui guy. But don’t think he or anyone else own insights that will douse this flaming garbage barge.

The UI started way back in the early 90s with UNIX Motif (I believe) and had the stellar UX/UI that Xerox was known for. That was switched it out, I was told, to Java in order to "attract programmers" because that was the hot technology everyone wanted to learn at the time. The hype turned out to be snake oil, and while the rest of the industry moved on, the controller is still Java.
