Don't expect anything will ever save your job.

For those that work in the branch what is the work environment like? Stress level? Seems like it’s been fairly secure with it being client facing. I’ve been looking specifically at branch manager roles.

What orgs are going to be impacted?

I was given the devastating news March 26. I already have an interview April 13 (Monday). No guarantees of course, but it gives some hope. I have probably applied to 10 positions so far. 2 rejections. And there was a contractor who sent me an email that seemed interested. But the role was in DC and paid significantly less with no benefits so I passed on that - not that desperate YET.

I never thought I would be playing this game again. I hope everyone who has gone down this cr-p road is making progress. I told the recruiter I secured this interview with that if they see T Rowe people applying that they are the best (workers not managers). Good luck all.

I left Qualcomm back in January. The toxicity was just way too much, and I had to get out. I posted about my experience here a couple of times.

I started a new job two weeks later, and honestly, it’s such a breath of fresh air. People here aren't "warm and fuzzy" or anything, but they get the job done without all the drama. It’s nice to actually feel productive and professional again in a normal work environment.

The pay here is also higher.

I've been working two separate roles at Nike, simultaneously. They let go one whole department last month for one of my positions. And they just offered me half the pay I was getting for my other position. I plan to make next week my last week.

Nike announced layoffs affecting 193 workers. These job cuts occurred at its Byhalia facility. The Mississippi Department of Employment Security confirmed the losses. This information was revealed on Friday. Hundreds of additional layoffs also impacted two Memphis locations.

Cargill is planning to lay off about five percent of its workforce. An estimated 8,000 layoffs will occur across the board. Bowhead Logistics Management will lay off 307 employees next month. These job cuts affect its Letterkenny Army Depot location. Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits acquired Eagle Rock Distributing Co.'s Colorado operations. Following the acquisition, Eagle Rock Distributing announced layoffs. The Mississippi Department of Employment Security released its first quarterly report for 2026. This report detailed three significant layoffs in North Mississippi. I know a lot of us are worried about our jobs. I keep hearing something is coming around the end of Q2. Just thought I'd offer some tips to protect your backside (and open up the chance for other people to chip in) if something happens to you. Some of these will obviously depend on your country* etc but:

1) Download/get a copy of your employment contract (and any other associated paperwork). You should be able to download this in Fusion - personal information - document records. Do not just save it to your work laptop. Make sure to keep a copy on your own computer or wherever you can reach it in case you lose access to your work area/laptop. - This is to ensure you know the exact terms you were working to and your entitlements.

2) If you're part of any Pearson schemes or pensions, make sure to get records of that, what you've paid in, etc., any terms of schemes in reference to redundancy, and information you may need to access them if you lose access internally. It may be a pain to get the info externally.

3) Any work (that's not sensitive) you may want to use as examples for jobs in the future, make sure to save that not on your work laptop but somewhere like a secure file area or USB you can access externally.

You may want to consider joining a relevant union*, which usually offers guidance and support, especially if you think something's been done unlawfully/unfairly.

If you end up being moved to another role that's not suitable (perhaps in the hopes of them making you leave rather than paying out for redundancy), this is where having your contract will come in handy, if there isn't a clear violation (perhaps due to vagueness in your contract). You need to keep a record of everything in writing and make it clear that you have not agreed to the changes and are working 'under protest' while it gets addressed (this is where a union may come in handy).

Layoffs in the life sciences sector are increasing again. This follows a decrease in job cuts at the end of 2025. Fourteen companies in life sciences announced job reductions. These reductions impacted over 745 workers in Massachusetts. All these job losses happened during Q1 2026.

Now the count is 30 jobs, 27 of which have openings in the US (also state could be in 10 locations). Jobs in India down to 3. The openings all must have been posted on the Saturday before Easter, and 21 people hired in India on the same day. Yeah, right. I was wondering how these people sleep. Probably soundly. Sociopaths.....

I dipped my toes into the job search pool and things are not just bad, but awful. I'm genuinely worried that if I'm cut, I'll either have to accept half the pay I'm getting now or just stay unemployed for who knows how long. Neither option will work for me and my family.

If Serbia's getting hit majorly, then none of us are safe. No shade to Serbians, but they're much cheaper and much easier to keep on. If they're down to cutting even the lower-cost folks, what's going to happen to us in the US? Nothing good that I can think of, that's for sure.

If that happens to me personally, I'll consider myself a complete failure.

Even new hires are already questioning how stable things are and whether they made a mistake coming here. When it’s that obvious that early on, it pretty much says it all.

Long term career plans here don’t seem to last as long as they once did.

Companies like AWS, Meta or any FAANG and mostly other companies for that matter, ki-l your job when they either fire you or do mass layoffs.

In contrast, working at Pearson, they ki-l your own career! Most people are either ignorant or overlook it. The stakes are very high with low pay when you work for Pearson. You are literally low balling your own career, your prime working life for a company that is highly unstable and no growth!
