Got the axe this morning. Band 8 Engr. Was doing the work for higher band team members. It is ironic that Dan wants to get leaner and perform better but keeps bloat that has been here for nearly a decade, but kicks younger employees to the curb.

@ac Very interesting. Now that would be cause for concern - even litigation perhaps. Maybe there is more to the story with this individual beyond performance - ya' never know.
@a8 Can confirm. Just got off with my mgr. He lost one headcount and it was a good performer. He was never even consulted about it. Neither was his director.

Sorry to hear you lost your job. However, if you look around, there are tons of 50 and 60 getting shafted. So let's not start with the reverse ageism. Best of luck to everyone. 13k is a lot of people
Not just bloat. I know of many needed "Super SMEs" that were let go today in Engineering. Just because they are older and been around a while, doesn't mean they are obsolete and are incapable of adding value. You need folks like them to educate you [also needed] young bucks to pass the baton.
Sorry. As someone with retirement fast approaching, it is definitely bad to see the lack of people under 30 around.
Take everything offered to you here and your new job is finding a new job. Don't feel guilty about not putting effort in here.

He's axing everyone. I've already seen band 5 6 and 7s go. I'm a 6 and am getting the axe in 5 minutes.

It 100% looks like they are trying to get out the younger people from what I have seen
