The Mines giveth. The Mines taketh away.

Retiree here. 30+ years in the mines. They told me my medical benefit credits would have some inflation indexation. But the competitive benefit landscape doesn’t include that, so… it’s gone! Thanks 3M! I wonder if the C-suite guys ever lose any of their Bennie’s…

COBRA Coverage

Putting this out there to hopefully save anyone who may have fallen into the same predicament I just found myself in. If you're like me, because I was told FIS covers COBRA for 3 months, you selected all the same options that you had while employed, health, dental, vision, etc. Be aware, FIS does NOT cover vision. You need to access the Health Equity Wage Works site and pay the vision amount if you have not already. Until you do so, no paperwork will be submitted by Health Equity to notify of your medical (including CVS) or dental coverage, leaving you without any medical or dental insurance.

Let’s Be Real

I truly think Headquarters should be moved to Richardson. As long as HQ is in Chicago, the “Chicago Way of Doing Things” will continue to prevail over our company culture. Talking a good game, but not really looking out for our members… giving in to political pressure over doing what’s right…. Looking good is more important than being good…

Our company has been in a downward spiral ever since PHH said we were ‘in it to win it’ in regards to the healthcare exchange after the Affordable Healthcare Act was passed. I appreciated her vision and that of Paula after her, but HCSC did not move quickly enough to modernize our systems, too many decision makers stifled and snuffed out true innovation. Projects and great ideas get stalled in committee to this day. We are wanting to grow grow grow, but we aren’t insightful enough to truly be ready for the growth. HCSC employees do our best but we can’t work round the clock, 365 days a year. Dedication cannot overcome lack of true leadership from the top.

I’m proud of every employee that has stayed the course. Our members deserve our best, and I see if from my fellow employees and our direct management every day.

Humana sued the government over its rating in October 2024. CMS included foreign-language assistance for customer callers in its stars metrics. To receive five stars on the call centre metric, CMS required a 100 per cent success rate for foreign language calls. Three Humana test calls involving a third-party connecting an interpreter did not work, hurting Humana’s overall star rating.

take the package (if you can)

drivers who are eligible should retire now if they can and take the package...

it looks like they are offering full pension benefits and current health benefits, though each person will need to pay about 200. the only question is whether ups will cover accrued vacation time if drivers accept the buyout. older drivers will see route changes as package volume declines. younger drivers with less seniority will face layoffs or be forced to work two hub shifts.

low-seniority hub employees will likely be laid off. i feel bad for operations supervisors, especially the older ones, because they will be overworked and mistreated. ups seems to be pushing them toward retirement or waiting them out until they pass.

It’s not about the patients any more, it’s the money and greed that always wins

My heart is just heavy and I contemplated writing this but here goes. When Humana bought out Kindred ant Home and changed to CWHH, that is the very moment that all values went out the door. We lost touch on the most important mission which is to put patients care first and continue to make it our top priority.

They are what makes this company go round, without them, we are nothing at this point. It’s not about the patients any more, it’s the money and greed that always wins. The answer is not to short staff our clinicians that are taking care of the patients and run them ragged to where they have no choice but to work weekends because of their own morals of what’s right and wrong.

That video that was shown at the Town Hall, was shameful. You highlighted it as the nurse cares so much that they go out on their weekends to make sure their patients are taken care, which of course they do, there is absolutely no doubt about that! But have you thought that they are doing it because they have no choice? That there isn’t enough time in the day to get all completed? Is that a healthy work, life balance?

AI and offshoring the authorization dept is definitely not the answer either in my opinion. They don’t understand how quickly authorization requirements can change over night and the teams responsible must shift focus immediately to not delay patient care or how challenging it is to work with another country and teach them how American insurance works when they don’t have it themselves. THEY. DON’T.UNDERSTAND and Humana you have to know this! And they think a bot can do it??? If only it were that easy it works have been implemented already and those that know, really know.

Their vision and mission is out on planet Pluto, guys because it isn’t here. The end of the day the one that suffers the most are the patients sadly. Ratings are terrible because our patients aren’t receiving the best from Humana and they’re speaking out! Word of mouth travels fast. Why can’t Humana lead this company in this economy by showing how one should should be ran instead of “matching the declining market??” Make an example out this and prove to them how it’s wrong. The world is ever evolving, change is good, we thrive on it! You’re just going to wave your white flag because every one else is doing it? Is that what we teach our children?

Maybe I’m too old school but my dad always told me growing up that, “there will be a day that it will be you against the world. But keep true to your word and invite those that you can to your table and you will have an army.” Humana—Take care of your employees, listen to their struggles and how YOU can improve to get them what they need to be successful which in return, makes you successful. Maybe not rake in the millions of $$ a year for once and do right by the greater good and it will all circle back around and come out on top that way.

You can only be better if you do better and lead by example. Spend some time with our nurses out in the field and see how they aren’t taking their lunches or bathroom breaks b/c that impedes with home visits scheduled back to back all day b/c of critical patients and being short staffed. See what time they get home to their own families. Go out to some of your branches and hear their struggles and frustrations and get them the proper resources and tools. A working tablet would be nice for once. Yes, just a simple tablet. The biggest decisions are made at the top without asking any of the employees that are doing the actual work and getting their input. Or is it just what makes the most sense to line their own pockets.

We know our jobs like the backs of our hands and we love our jobs!! WE are the experts here that do this day in and day out.. If they’d just listen and hear us, they might learn a thing or two. Our leaders can and will one day be in these patients same shoes and what kind of care will they expect to receive? Sometimes it’s better to eat crow and tuck your tail between your legs and say hey, “I’m sorry, I messed up. What can we do to be better here?” It’s as easy as grabbing a cup of coffee and having a seat at their table for once and just listen. Have we lost all touch with humanity??

There are no better advocates for our patients than our own here. Most patients have no one to advocate for them, did you know that? Our home health agency is all that they have and the teams that come with it. That should be our mission and vision and it’s no longer that way unfortunately. Be rich, be a millionaire, I don’t care honestly. But be it for the right reasons. Value what you have right in front of you and take care of them and they’ll take care of you. I used to be so proud of who I worked for. Now I’m ashamed to mention it to anyone. And if you do the right thing, I can almost guarantee that it would keep your name out of all the fraud accusations and news articles that we all see.

This is perfectly said and it needed to be in its own thread. I only added paragraphs for readability, but the OP is @b7+1k59rbzhq. Perfectly stated!

Health Insurance unusable deductible

For lower pay Mattel employees, we can't afford to get medical treatment with a $3000 dollar deductible. Let all the fat cats pay! You know the ones with a high school diploma, making 80k or more! Which is almost everyone in some departments. Unusable insurance. Can't have surgery done!

COBRA Cost - US ??

With existing medical condition, I am trying to figure out the cost of COBRA. I currently have United PPO + Dental + Vision insurance. Any pointers on how much will be my contribution going forward ? I took no break & started applying left, right & center. No interview calls from any potential employers.

Regards

Home Solutions/Centerwell

The entire Home Solutions area was robbed. We were moved to the “one home “ division and under their benefits. We lost 8 PTO days, Juneteenth holiday, and Black Friday holiday. We also lost VTO day making that 11 paid time off days today we lost. Our 401k will move to Centerwell with a match of only 3% so we lost 4.5% match. We lost half of our secure save so $260 a year lost. Our personify is now a lottery with a chance to win money so we basically lost that $500 . We have a 50% decrease of our life insurance. We have increased premiums for higher deductible plans. We did not agree to move out of the Traditional Humana benefits. We were forced and told they would give us a lump sum and an increase of hourly wages. That lump sum and minimal wage increase do not add up to all the losses. We want our traditional benefits back!!!

Early retiree/layoffee health insurance

Anyone who retired early or was layed off prior to Medicare have insights into Cobra vs ACA?

Interested in the cost vs policy quality comparisons for those who have been through it.

I know based on W2 box 12DD that the SAS insurance comes out to around 31k for me with family.

Love the coverage. Low deductibles and out of pockets.

COBRA Questions - After Layoff's

With the brutal layoff's , I am also one of those unlucky one with close to 30 years of hard work & dedication. Anyway, hope someone can shed light o my questions below. I am based out of CA

With COBRA , Could I choose only dental & eye insurance ? I maybe wrong, medical insurance from Obama Care plans could be cheaper that COBRA. I don't see an option to just pick Eye & Dental plans.

Second question ... looks like COBRA plans could be added within 6 months of layoff's ? If I pick COBRA plans say after 4 months, does it start from that day & continues for 18 months OR no ?

Third question ..Assuming I take COBRA plan for this year, do I get an option to pick a different medical plan during Open Enrollment ?

Fourth Question .. Arag & life insurance plans are history now ? I am sure that's true

Lastly, what's everyone doing for medical plans in Lieu of COBRA offer ?

Anyone heard rumors about Medicare Advantage Plans ending in 2026?

Health insurance is a rumor mill anyway-- it thrives on it.

Has anyone heard anything similar? Remember a few years back they were all gung ho about the 'single payer' plan?

Just checking & testing waters. I wonder if that is the unspoken reason behind all the chaos?
