Thread regarding Fidelity National Information Services Inc. layoffs

Losing my health coverage is my biggest fear

I just keep thinking, if they lay me off, what happens with my health insurance? I’ve got bills, prescriptions, and a family depending on it. Losing a paycheck is one thing, but losing coverage on top of that feels terrifying.

COBRA is expensive, but by law you can have it for 18 months after separation (as long as you pay). As others have noted, ACA (Obamacare) will get much more expensive starting in January because of the BBB, which removed subsidies.

@OP I was let go last week and that was my first concern. If you have preexisting conditions or your family are dependents, I would be looking to leave ASAP. I was told it was not performance related so even if you are doing great at your job it does not matter. I wish you and yours the beat of luck!

@OP This is a valid concern. My team at FIS was RIF’ed in the first wave early in 2025. As it has been stated, FIS covered 3 months of healthcare insurance post separation. Starting month 4, I used HSA funds to cover the COBRA premium which are significantly high but you have coverage. I will move to my spouse’s insurance in 2026 if I don’t have my own by the end of 2025.

For prescriptions, many manufacturers have coupon programs where you can get expensive meds for little to nothing out of pocket. Be sure to check these out as I am saving $140 a month for 2 prescriptions.

I wish you and everyone at FIS all the best during this time of uncertainty.

Same - I am looking for a new job but if the ax falls too soon, I won't be ready.

And the tax credits for ‘obamacare’ are set to expire at EOY. So those plans will go way up

If you are in the United States, FIS covers the first 3 months of COBRA (the entire premium), so there’s some breathing room to figure out options

This is my #1 concern too
