Haverhill Schools Propose Budget with Fee Hikes and Position Cuts

Haverhill School Superintendent Margaret Marotta presented a draft $137 million budget. The plan includes increasing rental fees for school facilities. It also eliminates 17 positions, mostly vacant or due to retirement. Three current employees losing positions will be reassigned within the system. These measures aim to balance the budget and avoid widespread layoffs.

St. Helena District Approves Two Layoffs, Spares Counselor

St. Helena Unified School District trustees approved two employee layoffs. The 5-0 vote on Thursday impacts the 2026-27 school year. Melissa Hansen, an executive assistant, and Esperanza Fuentes, an accounting technician, received final notices. A high school guidance counselor, Shawn Garrity, was ultimately spared from layoffs. Declining enrollment and increased costs contributed to the district's financial challenges.

I say this after every layoff and I'll say it again

Don't pick up any extra work! If you do, you're just validating this leadership in thinking we can do more with less. You're making it seem like it was justified that they removed people since everything is getting done with fewer people. They don't give a damn that means that those who are left are breaking their backs trying to keep things running. They just see it's getting done and patting themselves on their backs. So don't do it. Make yourself busy whenever asked to do this or that if it was not part of your job before. And if you're worried about how that'll reflect on you, I've been doing it for two years and I'm still here.

End of Rahul

He had just under 3 years, turnover went down from $14billion to $12billion. Share price down from $24 to $9 staggering -65% decline.

AI dream not producing any revenue, employees underpaid, Execs doubled their pay, layers of useless people given fake roles like Cumhire, Danny, and others. Its become a joke.

Wall Street is fed up of next quarter, next quarter excuses, never generating revenue. Bye bye Rahul you did very well out of it.

Query on IBP Eligibility for Employees Let Go Mid-Year

Reaching out to those who were impacted by layoffs last year, especially from non-sales roles.

I understand that employees who were let go in February received 100% of their IBP, and those impacted around September/October received about 75% of their IBP.

Can anyone confirm whether employees who were let go around the June/July timeframe received any IBP payout along with their severance?

Thanks in advance.

Are there alternatives?

SAP used to be the greatest company to work for, at least as far as I am concerned.

But now? Not anymore. The current board is su-king all joy and enthusiasm out of work.

But are other companies that different? Oracle... meh. Microsoft... no thanks.

Is there an alternative that a) pays well, b) treats their employees well, and c) is large enough not to disappear in the near to middle future?

I am not aware of any, unfortunately.

Why are they letting go of the people who were the backbone of their teams?

Once again, they're going after veterans, experienced folks, quick thinkers, and problem solvers. Exactly the people teams need to function. You could almost believe they don't care about the company's future. And they don't. As long as the top and the shareholders get their value, nothing else matters. I just wonder when the bottom finally gives out.

The summer of George!

Going George Costanza mode. Great time to get laid off for 6 months if you were also in the crosshairs. Looking on a potential bright side; the culture here started to su-k 5–6 years ago. Will be looking for a company that at least does a better job pretending I’m not just a number when breaking my back for them for over a decade!

Star Tribune Article on Restructuring

https://www.startribune.com/medtronic-restructuring/601838496

This is a bold statement by the Medtronic spokesman.

“ The restructuring is one of several since 2020, and employees have reported the latest one is occurring in tandem with layoffs.
A Medtronic spokesman declined to confirm any layoffs, saying in an email that he would not comment on “rumors of staffing changes.”
He added that the company’s hiring in recent years has outpaced any reductions — especially in the United States.
“What I will point out is that as Medtronic sharpens its focus on high-opportunity, high-growth areas, we’re making thoughtful decisions about where to invest,” spokesman Justin Paquette said in an email.”

Any guesses on total headcount reductions?

For those that got laid off today

I was laid off today and just sat there like “now what?” What are your plans for now to the end of the month?

I’m thinking to just show face at daily meetings, don’t do anything else and ignore 90% of teams and email messages. I mean this was worst case right? They can’t really do anything else?

Laid off today

Alright guys I’ll give y’all a real post. I was an SM in wealth and got laid off today. I know you guys like to hate on SM’s but seems like a lot of us got hit. Meeting was put on my calendar super early this morning as a 1-1 without any context. Been here for 10+ years and for severance I got 6 months, prorated bonus, PTO paid to cash, and shares cashed. My manager was visibly shaken up and was like a robot reading off a script just emotionless and monotone which was very unusual. Was told to take the rest of the day off and don’t bother coming into the office through the end of the month which is my last day.

It su-ks but I was already interviewing elsewhere which I’m stoked about the severance and all the payouts.

For those affected, just know you are not alone and this is just how “at will employment” works. I hope you all bounce back quick and enjoy a little time off to recoup. Or at best find another job and enjoy the dual income.

RIFs

I don’t get why there are so many trolls here. Why would someone in their right mind share their name, supervisor, or personal information just to prove whether something is real or not? Why risk jeopardizing their severance or employment situation just to satisfy random people online?

To the trolls, please stop. People’s lives are being impacted here. If these reports are true and people are seriously being affected, I genuinely wish you all the best. No one wants to lose their job.

Posting here is Not a priority

Believe it or not, for those that are impacted today, coming to this site and sharing the news is not a priority. They are going through an emotional roller coaster, need to inform their families, etc. so just because people aren’t posting here, doesn’t mean it’s not happening.

AI APOCALYPSE

trend is, people are hating AI because of the impact it has on the environment all to cut some corners and not pay people... meanwhile companies are SHOVING THAT SLOP down our throats. STOP. AI is inaccurate, it hallucinates. You claim to be making lots of money yet axing tons of talented people just to push AI. this will fail and blow up in your face.

This is hard

One of the most difficult things about layoff days is hoping its one of your team members and not you. Some of us like the people on our team and wanting one of them to be impacted instead of yourself is a special kind of he-l. It feels selfish and awful but you know it will be so much worse if you are the one to get the call. Then you have survivors guilt.

Layoffs Happening In My Group

Wasn't just rumors for the group I'm in. Teams is full of people sharing what time their calendar invite that just came in is for with HR + some leader. Everyone promising to give each other recommendations if needed, posting personal emails and phone numbers just in case, etc.

Don't know the count yet. Waiting to see if/what time my meeting will be. Bad vibes for sure.

The rumors weren't wrong for everyone.

Can we please be honest here and let us know if it's actually happening today?

I saw tons of writing on the wall the past two weeks that made me think I'm going, but the post from someone saying they made the whole thing up has me second guessing myself now.

If you're impacted, please let us know. And if you're trolling, this is people's livelihood. Please, not today...

stuck at gsr7

do guidelines on responsibilities handled by each gsr even mean anything? ive been gsr 7 for four years and my responsibility, scope, and importance of work dramatically increased but im still gr7 all the same. Exceeded on all reviews with the exception of met on my second year.

is this my direct management holding their cards close to their chest or is Ford not a place that cares about fairly compensating employees for workload
