I was not laid off but am not happy with layoffs and very sad to see close people leave. I will have a lot of work and be miserable. Can I get a package to leave Fidelity? Could I return later?

@OP It's actually quite easy to do this, and anybody who came aboard during the agile transformation and observed the drop in productivity could have seen the writing on the wall.
Step 1 — Chase flashy roles
Set alerts for exciting‑sounding but largely useless titles and apply anywhere your future manager won’t physically find you.
Step 2 — Sell big, accept anything
Promise the moon in interviews, take the offer without negotiating, and immediately expect top ratings justified by AI.
Step 3 — Contribute nothing
Spend two years delivering zero value while insisting you’re exceptional.
Step 4 — Collect the package
When HR finally reaches out, object dramatically out of “love for the firm,” then accept the package anyway.
Step 5 — Head to the beach
Apply for that bartender job you actually wanted all along.
As someone who was in this exact position and just left, no. They will do nothing for you and make it very clear they don't care.

If you're a senior executive, yes, it's called a golden parachute.
@OP Fidelity offers retiment packages if you meet certain criteria.
No and definitely don’t ask, or let it be known that you’re going to quit, because then they might just terminate you immediately. I understand the sentiment but it doesn’t work that way.

Same. I would have loved to had the option to volunteer to be laid off. I'm sympathetic for the people who had no intention to leave their current jobs and that the choice was taken from them, but I'm already planning to leave before RTO.
I'll probably be downvoted to he-l for this very unpopular opinion, but I wish I was laid off. That would give me the opportunity to get paid severance while not working full time and the ability to fully focus on training up and applying/interviewing.
