convo with manager

im sorry for the vague post. i dont have a lot of info and im wondering if anyone has heard anything similar.

i have a great relationship with my manager. they told me in our last meeting that they were told to brace for a disruptive announcement. i didnt think much of it but now i cant get it off my mind. thats all i know and i cant say where i am in sap or i risk me and my manager.

i dont want to start drama. i am just wondering if anyone heard anything similar and can help me understand whats happening. i am afraid to ask at the office.

Thoughts on next LP?

Curious what everyone thinks about the upcoming LP. I feel like it is too good to be true about uncapping the profits (I think they said this?). Meaning we can go about the fixed return. I might be wrong but it all seems too good to be true. Anyone have any insight as to what is actually happening or what this offer might be?

Comment if you left BNY due to your manager

Most of the posts here are from people who were let go or did not like the company policies like RTO. Would like to hear from folks who left the firm as you couldn't deal with your immediate manager or one above them - basically management who knows who you are and what you do. What was the red line for your decision? Have you found another job? Which part of the firm you were in - Ops, TSG, Engineering, etc.

Soon all Saks and Neiman's stores will close. Round two of closures included high profile stores

Chicago, Las Vegas, Honolulu, Tysons Corner, and South Coast Plaza are all top tier locations with lots of foot traffic in the mall and surrounding areas, if these locations are closing, I eventually see all locations going under. Please, if you count on Saks or Neiman's as your main source of income, start looking for a new job, I'm so sad for all the wonderful people I worked in the 24 years I was at Neiman's. Times are changing and not for the better. God bless everyone at Saks and Neiman's stores.

What's the dirt on Scotty the Science Lab?

A few questions regarding 3M's mascot, Scotty: Who watches him all day? What does it cost to have people watch him? Where does he go at night? How much did it cost to trademark his name: The Science Lab? How much time and money went into this decision (legal, PR cost, etc) to acquire him? Was he a rescue dog/puppy mill/legitimate breeder?
Is there any chance he will get laid off or spun-off?
Maybe a better mascot would be a black widow spider or a preying mantis, you know, one's that eat their own.

Give me the pros and cons of each BU

Hi. I’m a Fidelity alumni, trying to help another Fidelity alumni get back in Fidelity. This person is a software engineer who left on their own free will and on good terms some time ago, and is open to returning to the company as a software engineer.

I’d like to know the pros and cons of working in each BU. Please try to list out the pros of each BU in terms of where the most career growth can be.

For all of you who may think it’s best to keep this person away from the firm, not everyone is the same. I personally would like to NEVER set foot in Fidelity again, all due respect. I am aware that Fidelity has its issues like reorgs, false job security, etc. Just list any pros and cons specific to each BU that you can think of which would help someone pick their poison with more information at hand.

Thank you.

What are layoffs achieving?

Seriously, outside of short-sighted and short-lived cost cuts, has there ever been anything positive that can be associated with layoffs? We've been having one layoff after another, one restructuring after another, and nothing improves. In fact, it's the opposite. So what's the point?
