Potential layoffs coming

In some orgs, not enough people took the "career transitions" package. Despite record margins and a good business environment, discussions are under way about how to (1) pay for the promotions needed to have a viable career ladder for individual contributors (2) bring in new engineers to the industry without growing the budget (3) bring WDs opex closer to Seagate's (4) pay for depreciation on capital expenditures which are needed

Where does that come from? You can just imagine.

What’s keeping you holding on to this job?

Honest question. I haven’t had a raise in years, and I haven’t seen a real chance to move up, or even just switch roles, for what feels like forever. It’s like being stuck on a treadmill, exhausted but not getting anywhere. The only thing keeping me here is how scarce other opportunities are right now. I really wish I’d made a move back when there were still options to choose from.

Executive promotions

Can anyone shed light on how promotions to CL30 work? Of course, one needs to have exec potential.

Does one need an Exec sponsor? Is two consecutive Outstanding enough to get there after CL29?

Please FACTS only ... no bul--hit ... all cr-bab-es only read and learn ... don't need BTC/KLTC as well ...

Anyone else see a total disconnect on the survey results and “action plans”?

Prime example, the employee well being ranking low. Now we see all this stuff on healthcare and mental health. Uh, that’s not what was meant by that. People were referring to work/life balance, recognition, promotions, bonuses, pay raises, taking care of your people, doing special things for them. Saying “if you don’t like it, leave,” highlights they don’t care.

We are all needed

Is the bs they are telling claims. Even the wfh employees that they are needed. But no promotions or openings for wfh, only in hubs. Very suspicious. Appears as if they are moving jobs to the hub but with 40% of the workforce being fully wfh how would they ever get it all into the hubs? Everyone is miserable and praying for the exit offer.

Cool! Congrats on your dream job/promotion. The rest of the folks who have been laid off can find solace in your achievements.

I'm thrilled to finally share the exciting news that I've been promoted to my dream role as the VP of Merchandising for Asia Pacific and Latin America at Nike!

It's been a busy few months setting up this amazing team for success, but I'm proud to be back home in APLA, leading with passion, commitment, and determination.

After 22 incredible years at Nike, this role is a dream come true. I'm so grateful to the amazing leaders who've supported me throughout my career and believed in me.

Complete 180

Fiserv used to be a dream job for engineers, but now it’s like a factory for burnout. Pay is nowhere near where it should be, promotions stall all the time, and the best talent is constantly leaving for greener pastures. It’s painful watching a once-great place erode to this level.

Only 3

Foundational Services is keeping promotions for new directors at only 3 people (for a group of 8000). So, not only will we see more promotions to MDs (assume more than 3), only 3 Directors, and who knows how few AT will ‘allow’ to be promoted for the people actually do the work. Another nail in the coffin for Citi and their hopes for innovation and growth.

Someone needs to call out Cisco Leadership

I’ve been at Cisco for nearly two years, and it’s becoming very frustrating. Last year, CPF was cut to 0.61, and now they’ve split merits and promotions, basically halving the budget again. It feels really unfair. On top of that, whenever I bring up a raise conversation, my manager guilt-trips me into believing I haven’t done enough, completely overlooking my accomplishments. I’m seriously considering switching jobs, but I wonder- is it the same everywhere? Are most people this unsatisfied at their companies?
