Watching promotions happen makes you wonder whether performance is really the deciding factor.

Its not because Ive seen many including my own manager get promotions and they are new staff only here a couple months, staff with no work and him as director with no freaking clue about what his teams even do
More hiring in at the upper echelon (so they can meet the salary requirements of those in the US) than promotions. (Not jealous, just jaded).
Jealousy is your big issue, every post screams it.
