Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

Very limited 2026 Promotions

This has been said before, but leader gave me the heads up that senior leaders met with GPs today and each part of the org has been given a count of associates that can get a promotion for 2026.

I won't give my org, but it is probably around 300-400 associates. The number of promotions that will be given for these 300-400 associates is 2. The number early in the year was 0.25% of the associates could be given a promotion. These values will vary from org to org.

Time to start looking around people... Keep an eye out for promotions if you are hesitant, they won't happen.

Nothing would make Mrs. Louder more moist with delight than learning that half her staff had voluntarily removed themselves from the planet.

@at 100%. And that’s no secret. It’s literally the next phase of ER. I’m in meetings twice a week centered specifically around offshoring and outsourcing.

@OP Awesome. More proof that these greedy S-B's in charge are not only d-mb AF, they are malicious and hate anyone that is below a department level leader. This company is being burnt to the ground in real time.

To anyone wanting to work for EDJ, if you are early in your career, run away and fast! If you are later in your career and burnt out, this place is great. The internal politics prevent anything from getting done, so you can basically just do nothing and collect a paycheck. You won't learn anything obviously, but it's really pretty relaxing if you just embrace the chaos! Like OP said, you'll also never get promoted, but if you were hired on at a decent salary and don't care, then it's all gravy for as long as this sh-t show lasts....

How could you retain top talent without providing opportunities to grow and be promoted? This tells me that they view the work as just ordinary and menial that can be easily automated. This is not the way to compete in the market place.

@OP Wow. They really do hate us, don't they? Are more layoffs and outsourcing coming too?

I’m curious who thinks this stuff up and then sells it like it’s a good idea. Instead of building trust with associates, they are tearing them down—one stupid decision after another. I want to trust leaders. I want to believe there was a good, solid reason behind Enterprise Reimagined and the new Return To Office initiative. But these d-mb mother cluckers are selling rotten week-old fish and pretending it’s caviar. The incredible talent at the home office will be waltzing out the front door with their middle fingers extended.

Honestly, reading this post has me shaking my head. Are they really that ignorant and obtuse? Yes. Yes, they are. Sadly, I can think of a hundred different ways disgruntled associates will have their revenge on the firm. Quiet quitting. Throwing sand in the machine at the home office. Stealing and selling firm secrets. Brand loyalty and incredible leadership is what drew such incredible talent to the firm and held it there. Now, it’s just a matter of months before we are in the headlines again—and probably related to AI governance due to the haste at which it’s being shoved down our throats. And I’m an AI proponent!

Shaking my head. Absolute power and money do corrupt absolutely. Penny and ELT are living proof.
