Kaseya is cutting 200 jobs

Miami-based software firm Kaseya, whose name dots the Heat’s county-owned basketball arena and which received government incentives for creating jobs, has eliminated about 200 positions.

About 50 of them were based in Miami, Xavier Gonzalez, chief communications officer, told the Miami Herald on Wednesday.

Rivian lays off 600. CEO memo below.

Hi Team,
I am writing to share a difficult update.
With the launch of R2 in front of us and the need to profitably scale our business, we have made the very difficult decision to make a number of structural adjustments to our teams. These changes result in a reduction in the size of our team by roughly 4.5%.
These are not changes that were made lightly. With the changing operating backdrop, we had to rethink how we are scaling our go-to-market functions. This news is challenging to hear, and the hard work and contributions of the team members who are leaving are greatly appreciated.
To ensure we move forward with clarity, I want to summarize the areas most impacted.
Streamlining the Customer Journey: To provide a seamless experience for our customers, we are integrating the Vehicle Operations workstreams into the Service organization to create fewer customer handoffs and clearer ownership. We are also integrating the Delivery and Mobile Operations into the Sales organization to ensure the purchase experience is as seamless as possible with a single touchpoint throughout the entire sales process and to delivery.
Elevating Our Marketing Efforts: Historically we have had multiple functions that collectively capture what would typically be housed in a single marketing organization. We have made the decision to form a single marketing organization, and while we recruit our first Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), I will be acting as Interim CMO. Our Marketing Experiences team, led by Denise Cherry, and the Creative Studio team, led by Matt Soldan, will both report directly to me for now.
These changes are being made to ensure we can deliver on our potential by scaling efficiently towards building a healthy and profitable business. I am incredibly confident in R2 and the hard work of our teams to deliver and ramp this incredible product.
Thanks again everyone.
RJ

Potential layoffs coming

In some orgs, not enough people took the "career transitions" package. Despite record margins and a good business environment, discussions are under way about how to (1) pay for the promotions needed to have a viable career ladder for individual contributors (2) bring in new engineers to the industry without growing the budget (3) bring WDs opex closer to Seagate's (4) pay for depreciation on capital expenditures which are needed

Where does that come from? You can just imagine.

University of Northern Colorado plans to lay off 50 employees

The University of Northern Colorado plans to lay off about 50 staff members in early November and eliminate roughly 30 vacant roles, CFO Dale Pratt said during a town hall last week.

Any updates?

So far, it seems like folks in Ireland have been having a rough week. Nothing yet here, as far as I can tell. The newest rumor is that the big round might happen in the second half of November.

I honestly don’t know what to think anymore. This whole ordeal - the escalating rumors, the lack of official communication, and the high likelihood of layoffs, whether large or not - is making me really, really stressed and exhausted.

Staffing firm Kelly Services is cutting about 2% of its corporate workforce

  • The staffing firm Kelly Services is cutting about 2% of its corporate workforce.
  • The layoffs aim to meet the "evolving needs" of the firm's client portfolio, a spokesperson said.
  • The cuts come as the US labor market is slowing, with hiring plans at their lowest since 2009.

HQ change that fuels our future

On Tuesday, we’ll share changes to our headquarters structure as an important step in accelerating how we work. This includes eliminating about 1,800 non-field roles—about 8% of our global HQ team. As we make these changes, I’m asking all U.S. HQ team members to work from home next week. Target in India and our other global teams will follow their in-office routines.

Risk org update: team restructuring and role reductions

Today, we're announcing a number of role reductions and a series of organizational changes within the Risk org. These decisions are difficult, and we recognize the impact they will have on valued colleagues and teams. I want to share what's changing and why.
WHY WE'RE MAKING THE CHANGES
• Over the past few years, we've invested in building more global technical controls and in standardizing our requirements and verifiers within Risk Review. We've made significant progress in how we approach risk management and compliance. By moving from bespoke, manual reviews to a more consistent and automated process, we've been able to deliver more accurate and reliable compliance outcomes across Meta. This standardization means that many routine decisions can now be handled efficiently by technology, freeing our teams to
•focus on the most complex and high-impact challenges. As a result, we don't need as many roles in some areas as we once did. Our work has matured, and we're at a point where we can operate more efficiently and effectively, while still upholding the highest standards for compliance.
• KEY CHANGES WE'RE MAKING:
• Reducing roles in Product Risk Program Manager, Shared Services and Global Security & Privacy (GSP) teams.
• Consolidating more Areas work in London, where we have strong leadership and engineering presence.
• Reorganizing GSP and integrating it with the Reg Readiness and DPO team, which we're renaming Regulatory Compliance Programs.
LOOKING AHEAD
We remain committed to delivering innovative products while meeting our regulatory

  • obligations. These changes do not alter our policies, standards for compliance, or legal responsibilities. Automation and technology. will continue to strengthen our compliance program, but human judgment will always play a crucial role in assessing novel and complex issues. This is a natural next step in our journey, and as our processes mature, our teams will be able to focus on the most challenging and high-impact work.
We also know this is a hard day for many. Our priority is to support impacted employees and help them find new opportunities, within Meta or beyond. We are equipping managers and team leaders with resources to support their teams, and we will continue to communicate openly as we move through this transition. We are grateful for the contributions of everyone affected and remain committed to supporting you through this change.

More layoffs incoming

Rivian Automotive reportedly plans to lay off more than 600 people as the all-electric vehicle maker faces growing market challenges. The Wall Street Journal, which first reported the plans, said the layoffs will affect roughly 4% of the company’s workers.

Little birdie told me mass layoffs coming

There will be announced mass layoffs and consolidation plans within a week from now. Underperforming BUs will be restructured or sold and 1000’s will be laid off across the enterprise.

This is first roll out of changes due to Elliott Managment,

Thank you Geoff Martha! Elliott management would have never bought into MDT if you never took over the CEO spot! Enjoy your huge parachute package.

Have you trained your co-worker's replacement yet?

If not you better get on it because you can bet they are busy right now training AI to replace you! It should go without saying that they will try to hide this from you by saying they are "swamped with work" after the last RIF, or that they "have decided not to work hard anymore", etc

Meanwhile, the more co-workers that you show management you can replace, the more valuable you look to Team Oracle

Overdue Cleanse

Existing operating model was developed after covid when they acquired a company. ConocoPhillips was a great company before but that 4 to 1 ratio in the Permian, compromised the core.

The need to liquidate the artesia New Mexico office and part of Midland office has been conversation for 4 years. That shift will align with SPIRIT values.

Corporate finally confirmed that vendors have to pay to play. Hang on to your cowboy hats, it's going to get bumpy!

Don't Panic

There's a lot of anxiety and speculation going on now, and I just wanted to post a friendly reminder to take care of yourself. You're not alone in being anxious, losing sleep, and struggling to function at work. (I am too!) But so far, all we have are rumors, and nothing is confirmed yet. Time will tell.

Also, getting laid off is better than getting fired or quitting, because getting laid off usually comes with severance pay and potentially qualifies you for unemployment if you can't find another job before the severance runs out. All things considered, I would prefer that over enduring through RTO and other nonsense meant to encourage us to quit. So the best thing you can do for yourself is to try to focus on work and not give them any reason to fire you while we wait this out. (Easier said than done, I know...) Meanwhile, dust off the old resume and make some connections. Collect any personal effects from the office before Tuesday. Take care of your mental health.

Q4 with layoffs…

I am in a business area where I believe my role and most but not all within the L8 team I’m on are “safe” for now due to Q4 support. However, that is likely not the case come Jan/Feb. I hope/believe that our team will realize this and adjust their level of effort and support/availability outside of business hours this Q4. No need to overextend yourself to just be let go in Jan/Feb. I am also pacing my work according to the announcement timing I’m expecting…I’ll just leave peak support tasks undone until after any cuts are made next week. If I’m let go, then someone else can figure it out. I’ve deleted my entire One Drive (can sync again if you want). No need to pass off files to your leader if your role isn’t needed.

why do they always wait so long to do it?

My question is with all these layoffs - they always know it’s going to happen and have the lists so early. Why does management and execs always wait till a certain day to make the cuts? Why not just do it as soon as possible to avoid all this stress and anxiety for everyone with a date looming over? It really pi---s me off I’ve been through this so many times and it’s really like we’re all numbers on a sheet or a dollar amount not people with lives and families to take care of
