So will the cuts reach 10%?

It’s so difficult to catch one or two actual pieces of information among all that completely unnerving corporate fluff. Here we are, having no clue about what will happen with our jobs, and we still have to listen to inordinate amounts of meaningless words. It’s disrespectful, at minimum. How about they lay out the details like grownups, so we can start scrambling for alternatives and backup plans?

Another acquisition, probably more layoffs

California Resources Corporation (CRC) will acquire Berry Corporation in an all-stock transaction valued at about $717 million, including Berry’s net debt, the companies announced on Sept. 15.

More layoff in the near future!

Oracle's high debt ratio indicates that the company is unlikely to take on additional debt to fund its AI infrastructure plan, especially if it aims to maintain a high stock value. The latest round of layoffs is expected in the near furure, potentially affecting around 15,000 employees from their workforce.

It's worth noting that Broadcom has taken similar actture in 2024; they have no obligations to their employees. This situation seems to be just the beginning. Why would anyone want to work for a company that doesn’t provide raises? It’s better to upskill, stop complaining, and move on! This may just be the start of a larger trend.

Kevin Lau’s org

If you are on a legacy team under Kevin Lau, don’t be surprised if you are out of work in Q1.

He will be scaling back on those teams significantly, its being discussed.

Over 50 and white will be at the top of the list.

Q!'26 cuts are going to be rough... Wall St. confirms..

So I have a couple of senior folks who work for Wall St. firms , and they have given me a heads up that Q1 is going to be a major hemorrhaging of white collar jobs, sectors mostly affected are big pharma, telecomm ( including at T. , VZ and CISCO) , and finance. .

Basically, companies are already pricing in the rate cut, but the unemployment numbers coupled with tarrifs effects and a expected weak holiday season is going to cause this.. so better save your nuts this winter..

September layoff running total

Sep10 4:30am UTC - Sep11 6:30am UTC totals: 190 layoffs.
September totals (except Sep01): 4538 layoffs, and 279 additions.

Methodology and day-by-day breakdown is in comments.

I got confirmation that lay offs are ongoing in Pacific region, but in some countries they have a 2 week delay after the notice, while they still have access to Slack. Thus, there are more layoffs in reality which will catch up in these totals in couple of weeks.

Halloween Trick or Treat with Layoffs

Signs that layoffs may be coming include financial troubles such as declining revenue or a hiring freeze, management and leadership changes, reduced perks and benefits, Zero Bonus, increased HR activity, organizational RESTRUCTURING, and shifts in your personal workload or exclusion from meetings and projects.

You may also notice increased secrecy, vague communication from leadership, canceled projects, or a generally somber or uncertain atmosphere in the workplace.
