Staffing weirdness

A couple of people in my department were quietly RIF'd this month. Fortunately, they both found other internal roles before their last day. I feel like I'm next, but after 30 internal apps, I'm getting nowhere, just screeners that quietly die. Looking at Workday, roles similar to mine are at a lower PM and many roles require hub proximity. Is Humana intentionally shedding people by realigning salaries?

What a perfect record got me

I've been at FIS for years. Never once got a bad review. Never been put on a PIP. I showed up every day, did my job, kept my head down. Then they called me into a room without any prior warning and handed me a layoff notice. No explanation beyond the usual corporate language. I'm over fifty. I've given this place a big chunk of my life. And they cut me like I was nothing. Perfect reviews didn't protect me. Being a good employee didn't protect me. Nothing protected me.

Struggling with a job offer after being laid off

Got laid off last year and have been searching for months. Finally landed an offer but the commute is rough. About 75 minutes each way with traffic. I used to work from home for nearly six years before all this, so the thought of doing that drive three days a week is making me feel sick. After eight months of looking, I'm scared to say no even though I'm not desperate financially. Anyone been in this spot?

Anyone catch that quarterly call QA on Europe Hiring freeze and layoffs?

The question was when will the European internal hiring freeze be lifted and is there another layoff coming soon. It was responded by effectively “Hiring freeze will not be lifted any time soon. Anyways I think everyone should be building agents. Next question!”

Yikes. No comment on the layoffs is quite telling but I could be reading too much into it

Laid off…so now what?

Been hearing that since I’ve been with the company for 10+ years, I get two weeks of severance for every year I was employed? Is this true? If so, I heard WF has a procedure in place to actually help keep you from collecting on this severance if you start working for another company within a certain amount of time? Is this true?

Layoffs Demand Strong Executive Leadership

Mass layoffs are increasingly common, often involving thousands of roles at once. How senior leaders handle these decisions profoundly impacts organizational trust, talent, and performance. Research indicates that while layoffs offer short-term financial relief, they can damage long-term engagement and institutional knowledge. Effective leadership during layoffs requires clear rationale, human conversation, and dignified treatment of employees. Companies must prioritize support and transparency to maintain a strong culture.

Are layoffs still going on? (post- Jan/Feb waves)

It appears that layoffs may still be happening in pockets, even though the big waves of January and February appear to be over (for now). Are people seeing any examples of this over the past 2 months?

For example, our head of Marketing was let go. Not that we could tell you what he actually did or why he was in the job in the first place. It's just too bad that he got rid of some really good people in January before he was axed.

Tom Brady

Remember when vz paid Tom Brady hundreds of thousands of dollars to go to HQ and say we were winners immediately after a VSP and a year before the biggest layoff ever? And during a period of losing big time to T-Mobile? Hilarious. Smoke and mirrors are the foundation of this mess and nothing has changed since.
