I can't afford to be laid off

We have a baby due in just a few months and I've never been this scared about job security. I can't afford to be laid off right now. Not with hospital bills coming and a new mouth to feed. Every rumor about cuts makes my stomach drop. I don't know how I'll be able to deal mentally with constant layoff rumors through all of this.

Goldman Sachs Rolls Out AI, Foresees No Job Reductions

Goldman Sachs is deploying generative AI to automate back-office tasks. President John Waldron stated this initiative will not cause mass layoffs. He expects the company's overall headcount to remain stable. Goldman Sachs Research estimates AI could expose 300 million jobs globally. Analysts remain skeptical, noting potential impacts on entry-level roles.

Torn between hating this job and desperately needing it

The mental toll of participating in unethical decisions, and the pressure we're under every single day, is barely manageable. It leaves marks. But my wife could lose her job any day, my two kids are still in school, and I'm drowning in debt. So I endure. So my family can survive. And yes, I've tried to find something else, even switch industries. But it's really, really bad out there.

Rejection after rejection

I was laid off several months ago. I've gotten to the final round multiple times since then and each time, they pick someone else. The reasons are always vague and feel like excuses. My self confidence is now completely destroyed. I'm losing sleep and I feel awful. The irony is, I'd give anything to have my job back, the same one I hated for years before being cut.

Walmart Announces Corporate Layoffs; Local Jobs Unaffected

Walmart will reduce its workforce by about 1,000 people. The company's corporate staff faces these reductions. Store workers are not included in this round of layoffs. Major job reductions target corporate offices in Arkansas and California. Local Walmart store positions are mostly secure.

Washington Trails California in Tech Job Losses

Washington state recorded the second-highest number of tech worker layoffs nationally. Over 11,000 tech employees lost jobs between May 2025 and April 2026. This data comes from Revelio Labs research shared with KUOW. Amazon, Oracle, and Meta were major contributors to these job cuts. A slowdown in tech hiring is also a significant trend.

San Diego Unified Staff Offered New Positions

Dozens of San Diego Unified School District employees will receive new job offers. These employees previously faced potential layoffs earlier this year. The district reached agreements with three employee associations. Sixty-nine at-risk employees can now accept new district roles. Human Resources found existing open positions for the upcoming school year.

2026 Layoffs Continued

I was laid off after more than 15 years at Wells. I survived the previous rounds, but I was finally caught up. Our CEO made it no secret this would continue through 2026. Each round I survived I had a little hope. Make no mistake it doesn't matter if you are a top performer or not. I have seen top talent just be let go over and over. It will continue.

I knew this might be a possibility, so I have been looking for jobs for months. It's been scary with this economy and job market. No bites. Had resume reviewed, joined job boards, joined talent agency/groups. The only thing that has come up is short term contracts but no real bites. Ageism is real and it's scary as he-l. All I can do is keep trying, take some time to up-skill and get some additional feathers in my resume cap, but I would be lying if I didn't say this job market is brutal.

Make no mistake. Wells doesn't care about the loyalty and commitment you have shown to them no matter how many years of service. Your performance isn't a guarantee either. Over the years I have jumped when Wells said jump. Traveled more than I can remember, worked nights, worked weekends, putting in 50-hour work weeks. Been a repeated top performer. They expect loyalty from you but don't expect loyalty in return. Don't be fooled. None if it matters in the end. You are just a number to Wells.

What a weird time to be "employed"

Constantly being scolded for not automating the fixes we have perform when existing automation/redundancy didn't already fix it. It's funny to see management get irritated that we're not excited about getting rid of the only work we do that keeps us employed, even though it exists because the SREs can't automate it enough to get rid of people.

The layoff set me free

When I got the news that I was being laid off a few months ago, I expected to be devastated. Instead, I felt a wave of relief. Dell has been a mess for too long and I hated my job for far too long. I don't know if I got lucky or the job market is not that bad, but I had a new role within two months. Smaller company and much better culture. Just wanted to say, it's not all bad.

Job listings are absolutely insane now

I've been casually looking at job boards and I'm mildly put shocked by what I'm seeing. One posting today wanted a single person to run their social media, manage their email marketing, analyze campaign data, handle customer support tickets, train new hires, and manage a small team. That's at least three different jobs. Plus they wanted five years of experience in each area. Plus a degree. Plus full time in office. The salary range was $65k to $75k. Are companies actually finding people willing to do all of this, or are they just posting fantasy descriptions and wondering why they can't fill them? Anyone else noticing this inflation of expectations?

Which matters more to you?

I'm job hunting right now and what I'm finding is that some roles pay well but have mediocre titles while others have great titles but the salary is significantly lower. I wonder what matters more to the people here. The actual money in your pocket, or the title on your LinkedIn? Not that I'm getting any offers yet, but I'm just curious.

FSSA Decision Causes 90 Job Cuts at CICOA

CICOA Aging & In-Home Solutions announced a mass layoff affecting approximately 90 non-union employees. The Indianapolis-based non-profit cited recent changes by the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA). FSSA decided not to continue CICOA as a case management provider. This decision resulted in a significant loss of government funding for the organization. The job losses are expected to be permanent, with layoffs finalized by July 31, 2026.

The Dead American Dream

Looking at 2026 and beyond….

AI making leaps and bounds, relentless offshoring, endless flood of H-1B Visas.

What is a American born man supposed to do to get ahead in life today when their either going to get laid off eventually or they already have with a jobs market that will just keep getting worse and worse with no “recovery” like we used to have in the past.

What’s going to happen to the men who have families to support and over 15+ years left on their Mortgages?

  • Inflation is out of control
  • American Birth rates are collapsing
  • Young families are punished for having kids
  • single family home prices are priced at clown world levels
  • The purchasing power of the dollar is getting absolutely destroyed
  • All of us who still have jobs are technically taking “yearly pay cuts” because even if you get a raise it’s sure as he-l not even keeping up with inflation.

UBI isn’t going to fix this. Alls you have to do is look back at history and see what it’s like for other countries when they live under “UBI” conditions (Cuba Today, Soviet Russia)

Online marketing company ZoomInfo plans to eliminate 600 jobs. This represents about 20% of its global workforce. Beware "Ghost Jobs" at L3Harris

Ghost jobs are online employment listings for jobs that either do not exist or are not vacant for which the company has no immediate intention of hiring. About 30% of companies use this tactic to collect resumes for future needs, create a false illusion of growth and to intimidate current employees into thinking their jobs are on the line if they don't improve their performance.
If you haven't heard back about a job you posted for, it's not you. It's them playing head games. Clifton has been doing it for years. Check it out for yourselves. You may find YOUR job listed.

Service rep in Earth City, worried about losing my job

So we’re considered a mega center under the mobility purple contract and we’re locked in at almost $39 an hour and there’s only about 60 of us right now and we won’t ever have people on our title anymore per our union. We all work 5 days in office. We’ve been doing mass hirings for almost 2 years and these new reps are also service reps but they have a hybrid title at the end of their name and get about $21 an hour plus commission and they’re a mix of English and bilingual. At the end of the day we all take the same calls, have the same center manager, report to the same floor/building but there’s over 100 of the hybrid reps. Can they get rid of us since we’re getting paid more and not having to meet numbers to get commission? It’s been like this for 2 years but there have been rumors that they can remove us and keep the reps that are hybrid. How can they get away with that if it’s true?

Expose and Report H1B Visa violations*

  • Both the individuals but more importantly Humana for knowingly turning a blind eye and not checking each year that Visas are up to date and maximum allowed time a person can remain in the United States in an H1B Visa. This is not intended to be cruel bit rather intended to save and protect American Citizen’s jobs and future employment in this country.

Information regarding Maximum Time:
The maximum time a person can remain in the United States on an H-1B visa is generally six years, typically granted in two 3-year increments. However, this period can be extended beyond six years if a permanent labor certification or I-140 petition has been pending for over 365 days, or if an I-140 is approved but a green card is not immediately available.

Key Aspects of H-1B Time Limits:

  • Initial Limit: Initial H-1B status is up to 3 years, with extensions allowing a total of 6 years.
  • Recapture Time: Time spent outside the U.S. during the H-1B period (vacations, business trips) can be "recaptured" to extend the 6-year limit.
  • Extensions Beyond 6 Years: Individuals with a pending or approved employment-based green card process can extend their H-1B status, often in 1 or 3-year increments, under AC21 regulations.
  • Reset Requirement: After hitting the 6-year limit, the visa holder must generally live outside the U.S. for at least one full year before becoming eligible for a new 6-year H-1B term.
  • 240-Day Rule: If a timely extension is filed, you may continue working for up to 240 days beyond your current expiration date while the petition is pending.

Disclaimer: Immigration regulations can be complex. Please consult with a qualified immigration attorney or USCIS for specific cases.

Freshworks Cuts 500 Jobs Due to AI Automation

Freshworks will cut 11% of its global workforce, approximately 500 jobs. This decision is partly due to rapid advancements in artificial intelligence. CEO Dennis Woodside stated AI now writes over half of the company's code. Automation has reduced routine tasks across various departments. The company expects about $8 million in one-time restructuring charges.

We can't even trust offers anymore

How the he-l are we supposed to leave Oracle if companies are rescinding offers a day before people are supposed to start? Someone posted about accepting a role back in February. He did the paperwork, got the start date, told his family, gave his notice and then they rescinded it eight days later. No explanation, just sorry. How is anyone supposed to plan their life when this can happen?
