I do not understand. A standard work day is 8 hrs. Why all of a sudden are people so stuck on 6 hrs in the office? Shouldn’t it be 8? Since when have we ever had a 6 hr workday?

That's what this is all about. It's as simple as that. They want you to quit to keep the actual layoff numbers smaller on paper and significantly cheaper.
