Scared and Stupid

My wife and I both work(ed) at the NY, NY hub and our request to relocate to CIC (Charlotte, NC) hub was granted. I went first a few weeks ago to Charlotte and emailed my wife but apparently the wrong email auto populated (I didn't notice). Instead of emailing my wife, I emailed an employee who's husband just passed away. I said "hello honey! There's plenty to do here and it's really hot. Can't wait to see you tomorrow!" Today, I was contacted by HR about harrassment. Even though it was a honest mistake, do you think I will be fired or be put of the next layoff list?

Whitacre Tower will be missed

Once we move out of here and into the new Plano HQ we will truly miss what we had down here in the heart of historic downtown. It was a very cool place to be, lots of great restaurants, and the connections made here working over the years. When you visit the AT&T Discovery District you feel as if you have teleported back into the 1990s when people used to dress up and go to work. It feels like such a cultural and historical place. There is so much nostalgia and that makes me a little sad.

Relocated to Dallas from Atlanta(Lenox Park)

In 05/2025 and was just let go. 10 months later. Thank God the family stayed in Georgia. I lived in a rat trap for the past 9 months to save a few bucks and protect against uprooting my entire family. VP kept asking me when's the family moving out? Packing up the car this weekend and heading home. Ingot problems and will have trouble finding something but thank god I didn't put my family through that.

The End of Bothell

Our leader, Jeremy (Give Me Some) Legg announced a fews weeks ago while here in Bothell, that we would be moving from 7 & 8, to some other location. This was proceeded a couple months earlier with a survey asking if we would like to have an office closer to amenities and a would be willing to drive extra for it.

Now we are faced with moving to a new location , possibly 30+ minutes further away. This might be ok for some but not for those who live close by or west of Bothell.

The bigger question is: why would at&t do this? The NTC is in the same complex as 7 & 8, we own the buildings, and we have plenty of desk space (newly upgraded). The parking su-ks if you arrive after 10 am but food options are not that far away if you like to eat out every day. We recently got out of all the leased building in Bothell and Redmond and moved everyone here.

So, when they move us out to a new leased building, what happens to 7 & 8? Do they get sold or leased to another company?

In the mean time, ~2000 Bothell employees get displaced and moved to a leased (temporary) location. It is only a matter of time we are told that since we don't have a permanent office space, our jobs have moved to Dallas. Bye bye Washington employees.

Relocation possible?

I’m currently remote and looking to relocate with my spouse, who just received a great offer in a different city. While the bank doesn't have an office in that specific city, it does operate within that state (the nearest office is about 4 hours away so I will have to continue remote). Has anyone remote (geocode C) successfully made a move like this in the last 3 to 6 months while staying remote?

If you work at a Oracle site in California where gas prices will get outrageous expensive

You should either transfer to the Nashville TN office where gas is cheaper or look to see if Oracle plans to open an office in Saint Louis Missouri and move there where gas prices are cheaper than they are in California.
You probably won’t miss California moving to Nashville or Saint Louis

Phase II officially on. My group was told today...

  • Severance packages out by mid-April
  • July must accept severance or not
  • September 1st is the start date for Phase II people in the office

  • Certain special people will be given the opportunity to stay where they are

  • Certain people will be given generous packages to relocate

This is was way more merciful than Phase I...

Bartlesville Control Center

We need to be clear: controllers will not be relocating to Tulsa. This move would result in the loss of critical experience that safe pipeline operations legally depend on every day.

Seagull needs to fully understand this reality. Our position on relocation must be communicated clearly. We need to stop training backfills to move roles to Houston. If Seagull chooses to move, have her develop and implement the training.

The relocation trap

We had a group of people who relocated last year. Picked up their families, bought houses, got settled. Then most of them were gone within six months during the last major purge. Intel didn't care. A relocation isn't protection. It's just another cost on their spreadsheet. If they need to cut, they'll cut. Your moving expenses don't factor in.

What to do?

I am anticipating my time to relocate (not sure where) might come anytime. My product has a lifecycle of a few years, but many of team members have relocated and many experienced leaders retired due to age and RTO. My motivation to work is low and minimal human interaction is gutting me.

Should I relocate and hope to switch projects? My spouse is under stressful situations at work too with tons of work and wants to quit if I relocate or become stable somewhere.

I am unable to find work outside T due to various factors (skill gap, unfair RTO demands)

If I relocate,,we will take a major financial hit. What to do? Leap of faith of faith RTO or should I quit?

Reality Check

Can’t imagine that this whole company won’t be in TX in 3-5 years. Stop backfilling OKC jobs in OKC and let normal attrition handle 15% of the lift while targeting back office jobs for rolling relocation (IT, HR, Accounting, Legal). Geologists and Engineers will hang on longest as the “center of excellence” but eventually bye bye.

Flawed plan - Is the board NSI now?

Appears that their plan to move people to Edmonton is about to backfill on a listed company that makes billions of dollars every year which is about to fail. So many people have said no to the move that I’ve heard that we have about 200 job openings that they need to fill with key critical roles empty. Plus they don’t even have the licence to start the Edmonton office build yet so YE27 has not chance. So the lack of results , lack for strategic foresight and impact that the long term bottom line; does this make JW and the board NSI?

New to Houston Relocation - Property Taxes & Insurances Crazy

In the process of relocating to Houston. Looking for a house. Learning that property taxes & insurance are insane in Houston. Seeing >$16k property taxes and >$6k insurance, not including flood insurance. Auto insurance is higher too. Is this normal?

So much money is thrown away in property taxes & insurances here. It seems ridiculous.

Huntington Beach shut down.

Today! Baker has decided to close down the Huntington Beach CWI R&S/Fishing shop.
All shop hands and welder have been laid off and or have an option to relocate up North to Shafter Super center. Admin and field supervisors will work remote. One of the most experience, profitable, hard working and well dedicated team will be no more. A big mistake that will hurt Baker in the long run.
