The new HQ?

Does anyone think building the new HQ with this economic climate is a little crazy?

I can’t help but think about how they will ultimately cut people as part of the balance sheet tight-rope act such an enormous expense will cause.

Lastly, as a Dallas native I’m worried about the economic health of the city when we leave. I know the tower isn’t the best but access to mid-day kayaking isn’t something anyone cares about.

HQ Culture

How would you describe the culture at HQ? I have had friends tell me it’s like high school all over again… very young, fast pace, popularity is important, being cool is needed to get ahead. What has been your experience?

#HQ

Whitacre Tower will be missed

Once we move out of here and into the new Plano HQ we will truly miss what we had down here in the heart of historic downtown. It was a very cool place to be, lots of great restaurants, and the connections made here working over the years. When you visit the AT&T Discovery District you feel as if you have teleported back into the 1990s when people used to dress up and go to work. It feels like such a cultural and historical place. There is so much nostalgia and that makes me a little sad.

Field Sales to HQ

I’ve been looking to make the transition from retail to HQ as I would like to use my degree. The recent layoff have me leery but this might be the perfect time. How are things at HQ (OP and Frisco) currently? Any advice?

The Dominos Are Falling

I've seen it. You've seen it. Quad. Levi. Etc. Trading and SDP moving in phases to Houston... Executives starting to list their homes in Findlay. Has anyone else been hearing the whispers of moving HQ? I've now heard it from people in a few different departments.

Don’t make fun of Plano

For years all I heard was people complaining about the Downtown Dallas HQ office. You guys literally tore it to shreds. And now that we are exiting the Discovery District yall found something new to pick on - Plano. Please leave Plano alone. We should be grateful of the announcement. Plano and Frisco are some of the best suburbs out here.

Serious question: does anyone know where to hire some Greta Thunberger–style climate activists to protest outside HQ?

Because RTO just put 100,000 extra cars back on the road every single day. That’s millions of unnecessary commute miles, burned fuel, congestion, and emissions just so we can sit in offices on Teams calls. For a company that loves to talk about sustainability, this might be one of the most environmentally irresponsible decisions imaginable.

Five-day RTO didn’t improve collaboration, but it did massively increase AT&T’s carbon footprint for no measurable business benefit. If leadership wants to posture about ESG and climate responsibility, they should be prepared to answer for policies that directly contradict it.

When the protest happens, I imagine the signs would write themselves:

Chants:
• “What do we want? REMOTE WORK! When do we want it? NOW!”
• “No more traffic, no more gas — stop the fossil-fuel farce!”
• “Hey hey, ho ho, RTO has got to go!”
• “You said climate, you said care — why are we driving everywhere?”

Signs:
• ‘RTO: Return To Oil’
• ‘More Commutes ≠ More Collaboration’
• ‘Teams Calls, Tailpipes, Hypocrisy’
• ‘Climate Pledges Don’t Count If They’re Emails’
• ‘This Could’ve Been an email’

You can’t claim climate leadership while forcing mass commuting for optics. If culture is about values, this policy says exactly what leadership values and it’s not people, productivity, or the planet.

Job offer at Target

I have been interviewing at Target HQ and today I received a job offer! Target seems like a great place to work at. I’m leaning more towards accepting the role. I know they have had layoffs but I think that is ok, my job should be pretty safe. They were all really nice too. Any advice? I need to accept by Tuesday.

Completely Tone Deaf and Incompetent Leadership

The leadership at AT&T is non existent. The fact they would announce building a new corporate campus than will likely cost upwards of $2 Billion while continuing to layoff hardworking, valuable employees is disgraceful. I’m sure this new campus will have all the wonderful features and amenities to highlights its lavish lifestyle existence while the peasant who are so graciously allowed to keep their jobs work in spaces that are old and filthy. Dirty bathrooms, paint peeling off walls, dirty carpets etc.

Stankey and the board are complicit in the corruption and incompetence.

What’s happening?

Kelly boomerang here—back at HQ after a five-year family break. Honestly, I can’t get over how different this place feels now. Back then, we actually stood for something. The CEO cared, leadership had energy, humor, my boss was awesome, we were growing, i knew what we were selling, the cafeteria was hopping, the marketing guy had a cool eurotrash accent, a sales head with tattoos and a porsche, and people were proud to work here.

Now? It feels flat. No ideas, no spark. No ambition. Dull people acting like zombies. I ain’t inspired by Chris, Tammy, or anyone else right now.

HQ move- All part of the plan

The plan was to allow people to choose to move to Dallas and choose a home near HQ or south, where homes are slightly more affordable. Then move HQ ~26 miles north (which falls within the loophole for severance), adding another hour plus of traffic if you live near downtown Dallas. This will NOT be the only move that will be happening. other reporting locations near Dallas are also moving north.

Coincidently the company is aware of what demographics will be most disproportionally impacted. For those employees who live in south Dallas, this will put your drive (in traffic) to about 2.5 hours each way.

HQ2 to be shutdown

My wife works in Amazon corporate real estate. The Arlington HQ hasn’t met expectations in population, productivity or contribution. Jassey is going to wind it down in the next 6 months.

Wells Fargo Charlie and Opco Moving to West Palm Beach

Once Chainsaw Charkie took possession of the board he told his directs one down west Palm beach next year or you are gone. CRO Derek will do anything as he's close to firing he's yes. hR is a no CFO has other offers he's a no. COO mostly uses the jet to do personal self fulfillment he's a yes. CLO is a no Compliance is a no. IA is a No. And they want to move technology out of anywhere but Iselin NJ bc Bridgette wants it and she won't be forced to go. The CxOs were shocked and really none but Charlie want to go they will shut HY which they just moved into the entirety is poorly thought. So even if you are saf now next year is worse. My hope is to find any Job where I'm not treated like a baby given more work and leave. It's the first bank in 20 years where I've asked for more work and they won't give it. So I attend the meetings I have ideas for work one took and I'm dragging it out in case they lay me off in October they don't get the work product.

Animals in elevators?

OK, what the heck is going on in the headquarters? Can someone explain to me why we have full size colorful posters of animals with copies on the elevators? I feel like I'm in a children's hospital. What's the scoop and why?
