The grass isn't always greener

I have been gone from Boeing for less than 5 years. Not long in the grand design, but long enough to compare.

The corporate world su-ks. The type of people who make it to management in all companies su-k.

All things being the same, I'd rather work for a company that su-ks with great benefits than a company that su-ks with less than stellar benefits.

I'm going to be ripped for this, but yes, I'd go back to Boeing. Its sh---y but the 10% match in the 401k will get me out earlier and the cost of insurance is the lowest I have ever found.

I'm not going to be happy at work anywhere, so I might as well have my pockets full.

Oracle Cerner: Potential Acquirers of Oracle Health

https://www.healthcare.digital/single-post/oracle-cerner-potential-acquirers-of-oracle-health

"A Private Equity consortium led by a firm like Thoma Bravo or Francisco Partners is the most probable successor. This structure satisfies several competing requirements: it provides Oracle with an immediate cash infusion to fund its GPU clusters (satisfying the liquidity crisis), it bypasses the most severe antitrust hurdles associated with a Microsoft or Amazon acquisition and it allows for a "neutral" platform that could potentially stabilize the customer base."

Conclusions: Sell off Oracle Heath, ORCL needs the cash ! New CFO is the Grim Reaper !

Move on and leave the toxicity behind!

After about 15 years of experience in GN&T my sincere advice is to move on and leave the toxicity behind! Don’t waste your time analyzing the future of the company, the impact of Dan’s decisions, the impact of AI, or whatever. Who cares? It’s a toxic environment and you need to get out.

At first, I thought I had drawn the short straw and got an incompetent and unethical boss who did his utmost to promote his rather incompetent favorites while holding back much more capable engineers but as time went on and positions got reshuffled, I realized it was a widespread and systemic issue.

All my bosses were fundamentally clueless about how to really improve network KPIs and relied on vibes. The company spent a lot of money on the network which masked the incompetence to a large extent.

Some people did well and got promoted to Principal or Distinguished engineer but paradoxically their work resulted in little or no concrete improvements. The promotions were also based on vibes.

You deserve bosses that know what they’re doing, treat you fairly and value your contributions! So do yourself a favor, move on as soon as possible and don’t look back.

PWM is falling off a cliff.

We have been losing AUM in Wisconsin hand over fist. Minneapolis has experienced similar losses after their two top teams walked out the door. Texas is losing money hand over fist. Kansas City is losing assets and advisors. When is someone going to look at "leadership," and finally make some changes? I don't know if it's possible, but I am guessing they will find someone even worse to take over for DF. On BL's call, she repeated talked about the $2BN in assets that has left. What do they think is going to happen here? You cannot simply rely on mortgages to carry the day.

Need advice on labor attorney

Don't know if this is the right place as this board mentions layoffs, but lately there have been no layoffs yet people are quietly disappearing from IBM. They are handed out a PIP and then right after the end date they are gone. Does anybody know of a good attorney who can take up the case for wrongful termination?

Retail stores are being notified of layoffs

Anyone else? Got told last day is 6/6/26, ironically enough. On the east coast. Not even sure if all my coworkers are aware yet either. Next steps are basically severance or reapply to a role nearby and hope the rsm likes you. Had another friend find out the same thing at his store in the south as well.

Just Notified of RA in US

Just had manager discussion and was notified last day will be July 2. Normal cr-ppy US severance of 3 months. Went through the normal we're not picking people because of age and the 3 others RA'd in a small team were all of 45. One people was listed who is not being RA'd in that same age range... so, definitely older, more expensive people are being targeted.

Layoffs Coming to Member Protection

Expect there to be layoffs June/July in Member Protection aka Fraud, Disputes, and AML first like operations.

Rumor has it most will be in the Fraud space as they over hired when the old guard went out and the new guard came in 2023/2024. I imagine it won’t be the overpaid cronies they brought with them from BofA, Citi and the like.

The senior leadership team (Bashore and his directs) is very clique-y. There is no loyalty if you aren’t part of their in crowd.

All that is Wrong with Centene (and Corporate America in General), in 26 Slides

After 20+ (mostly hellish, but somewhat productive) years at Centene, I had the misfortune of being re-orged under a Sr. VP that had no idea what anyone's background and contributions had been over the decades, so I and some others were shown the door in layoffs a couple months ago. I came across this article today that lays out perfectly how the last 20 years have been for a lot of us:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/gen-x-doesn-t-want-to-work-and-their-reasons-actually-make-sense/ss-AA1VYmbT?ocid=msedgntp&pc=W069&cvid=6a1dd379fcb443ba814542eb7b86d0fe&ei=107#image=1

Slides 16 (Corporate Culture Prioritizes Appearance Over Measurable Results) and 19 (Performance Reviews Emphasize Arbitrary Metrics Over Actual Contributions) really hit home, especially this from slide 16 - "Elaborate presentations mattered more than project outcomes. Workers who delivered results efficiently got overlooked while colleagues who mastered workplace theater earned promotions."

I have never seen a company waste so much time and money on worthless slide decks that are forgotten immediately after they are delivered. If you totaled all the wasted manpower in terms of the salaries of the people that had to drop everything they were doing to work on a deck for some muckety-muck that was coming to town or wanted an update on something, I would venture it is in the hundreds of millions of dollars in wasted salaries over the life of the company.

Anyway , time to get back to figuring out how I want to spend the rest of my career. I promised myself it would be doing something that provides meaningful, measurable, tangible results, so going back to Centene is off the table.
