HR We have a problem

These layoff instruction documents are like the Chevron incompetence gift that keeps on giving. Does HR do any quality control on their instructions?

Maybe the layoffs/offshoring should have started in HR so they could experience their own incompetence with this inaccurate information they publish.

Search “Executive” in askAT&T Prompt Catalog

All bootlickers - Go check out askAT&T’s prompt catalog and put “Executive” in the search bar. Here, you can see how the executives you worship & believe should be paid so much, actually do nothing. The executive update you received, was just a GenAI prompt that look them 5 seconds to generate. The headcount reduction email you received? 3 seconds to generate.

AI has already replaced 90% of these executives jobs, they want you to believe that they are irreplaceable and that you are what needs replacing.

What’s your favorite? My favorite is the “Critical Thinking Companion” that the executives need to critically think! Very telling of the state of the company

And there it is, buckle up for this 24 month wild ride.

I’ll sum the email up for you quickly:

“You American employees are too expensive and we need to make the stock price go up, we’re going to be spending the next 24 months laying off as many of you as possible to be replaced with AI and/or cheap India labor”

I appreciate the heads up, but a 2 year timeline is crazy.

Principal Applied Scientist

After so many layoffs, needing to go to market to fill the position of Principal Applied Scientist in Enterprise AI team is not a good look:

What happened to the robust pipeline of talent that was spruiked so enthusiastically by IT leaders only a few years ago? What happened to all the digital scholar wunderkinds who were going to change the company?

It looks especially bad after so many other high-profile departures from Chevron, especially in the IT and data segments.

And who in their right mind with those skills and located in the US would work for Chevron?

(I wonder if whoever lands the role will have to do a Skills Insights assessment, and whether they will be allowed to score above “fundamentals” with their lack of Chevron experience?)

Proof layoff notices are going to go out at Nike soon

Portland Craigslist currently has a lot of Nike Appeal for sale postings. The craigslist posters state their Nike appeal, they want to sale is new or never worn. All the people at Nike who know they are going to get a layoff notice soon are looking for quick cash and unloading their stash of Nike appeal they have been swiping at work for years now.

Reminder: being dedicated won't help you

It absolutely doesn't matter how hard you work, how much overtime you do, or how critical your role is. There's no rationale for selecting people for layoffs beyond immediate profits. I suspect people claiming 2026 will be worse than 2025 are right. Act accordingly, so you won't have any regrets when they boot you anyway.

Declining VRP... Only to be let go soon after... Any stats?

After talking with colleagues current and past, someone had asked does anyone know of statistics of people who declined the last VRP, only to be let go soon thereafter? As a band 4 for some time, seeing this all play out last year into this year it's uncharacteristic that last years offering of same, personnel had 30 days to make a decision whereas this year it's said they only have 10 days!

Who can make a life decision like this in 10 days..... And what about those in-betweeners..... 50 something but not yet retirement age? Many people here in the TN office have said that if you're on a list such as the VRP, you're undoubtedly on some other list somewhere else especially if you take the pass. Any cred to this?

Spring cuts/layoffs

This Would Make Sense. After Q1 2026 earnings announcement. I think the global corporate role renaming from fall 2025 will Result In OffShoring and/or duplicate role cuts. Very Specific S&T roles were grouped into More General Roles. Campus hires happening in much higher headcounts at ICC than Purchase (“global HQ”). The Labor is Cheaper overseas, and the stock is almost Flat Over the last 5 years.

Putting this up for visibility. Found at @ah+1ken6hm4m.

Mining company Chemours to lay off 75 employees in March

Dozens of people are preparing for layoffs at a mining company in North Central Florida.
Officials from Chemours say 75 employees are being laid off in early March.
They listed “economic competitiveness” as a reason for the layoffs.
Employees at their locations in Starke and Macclenny are affected.

George and Gaske should not let another round of engineering layoffs happen

With George retiring, and him PROMISING the engineering department that “BUDGET IS LOCKED FOR 2026…I have spoken to Paul Gaske and there will be no future layoffs in the coming months”, THEY SHOULD stick to their word…

George AND Paul should do everything in their power to not let engineering layoffs happen in these first 2 quarters…….George has to protect his reputation in this company and industry…..if he allows layoffs, Paul Gaske would be looked down by everyone at the company by lying to George if there is another round of layoffs…… Employees are not d-mb…..we DO NOT like being lied to……
This will tarnish George’s legacy in everyone’s mind in the WHOLE INDUSTRY if there is another round of layoffs in this quarter……what a horrible way to retire with everyone hating you…. Paul & George do better…. Do NOT hold town halls to lie to us…..
