How much worse can it get?

Think about it. If you’re laid off and get severance, assuming you’ve been here long enough for a decent package, you at least have a safety net that gives you six plus months to find something new. It’s stressful, no doubt, but I’m not sure it’s any worse than being employed and worrying about losing your job every single day.

UP Dispatchers

How many more quarter-zip pullovers with Iron Pulse logos will it take to buy your job? UP is doing this to keep you distracted from the fact they are trying to eliminate your positions. They even tell you in the Town Hall meetings they are using technology to consolidate as many dispatching desks as possible. Meanwhile, Vena has promised the NS ATDA dispatchers their jobs through a protection agreement. What has he promised you as a "valued member of the management team"? Nothing, absolutely nothing. In 2020 they cut people who only had a few years left to fulfill their 360 months for the full Railroad Retirement annuity. They will do it again! You are not special. This is not about being against the company; it's about protecting the career you dedicate and give so much of yourself to. You are trading small prizes for a possible guaranteed job, guaranteed wage increases, much better health care during your working years, health care after you retire, and protection against territory/dispatcher consolidations.

Boeing Acquisition Brings Mixed Job Outlook for Spirit Workers

Boeing's return to Wichita offers job stability for many production workers. However, Spirit AeroSystems management roles may face layoffs or relocation. Economists note that Wichita's lower labor costs could attract more Boeing production. This could boost manufacturing jobs in the region. The city currently faces a challenge in finding enough workers to fill potential new positions.

Layoffs happening today 3/27

Several on my team received invites for 10am call today - no agenda. Peer was informed a few teams are moving offshore. They are only keeping a few leaders on a few more weeks to shift the work to OGS. WHY is this continuing to happen??? How can so many people keep losing their jobs? The ‘new’ jobs posted online are bogus & aren’t being filled. Don’t waste your time applying. It’s all smoke & mirrors. SMDH

Goldman Sachs: Oil Prices to Slow US Job Growth

Goldman Sachs forecasts rising oil prices will impact the US labor market. The bank expects a reduction of 10,000 jobs per month through 2026. This could push the unemployment rate to 4.6% by the third quarter of 2026. Slower hiring, rather than increased layoffs, will be the main driver. Consumer-facing industries, like leisure and hospitality, are most vulnerable.

Find the nearest exit NOW

I know the conventional wisdom is to wait it out and force the company to pay you in severance. But, they'll try to deny it to you by every means they have. You just have to ask yourself one question. Is it worth it?

You'll be faced with a ticking clock of the severance checks stopping while you job hunt. No getting away from that.

Just start looking now and taking interviews with sick days or doctor's appointments and then just...leave. No two weeks' notice. No exit interview. Just tell them you quit and walk out. You don't owe them anything at all.

You'll feel great! You'll be leaving this lousy job and starting new one. No better feeling in the world. Better than waiting around in the stress test lab wondering when your number is up.

They are actively trying to exploit you in every conceivable way.

Just. Leave. Now.

Getting laid off in February drastically improved my life

Just like most of you, I was miserable at TD. Doing the workload of two jobs, with a horrible management team. But for some reason, I wasn’t interviewing because the thought of juggling a job search and an insane workload at TD stressed me out. Well I already landed a new job (much better company) with a 20% pay increase. TD severance still running through May. This is a message to everyone still there - you HAVE to start interviewing! The ship is sinking rapidly, but if you put your mind to it, you can land another job pretty quickly. The job market is bad, but not THAT bad. Get out while you still can! Your life will improve!

Been here just under a year

Every week my job drifts a little further from what I was actually hired to do. At this point I’m basically in a completely different role, and nobody’s said a word about it. No conversation, no training, no change to my title or pay. I’ve brought it up, and nothing changes. What even is this place?

If you're safe today, congratulations, but don't get too comfortable

FIS strategy has shifted to AI-first, instead of people matters. No matter if AI is just an excuse for cost reduction or not, if you're safe today, don't get comfortable, prepare your Plan B or Plan C. We as a tech company, as long as your job is working on your laptop, you are in danger of getting replaced by AI or cheaper labor.

Maybe you will think, okay, I'm an SME and I have unique domain knowledge, and I'm the 'valued retained team members". No, the messages you sent on Teams, the documents you saved on SharePoint and laptop, any work you do, are all training material for AI within this company (within any company having AI)

FIS keeps you today, not because of you being valuable, it's ONLY because of replacing you is A BIT MORE EXPENSIVE 'at this moment'. Please take a breath, give yourself a break, but don't get comfortable. Polish your resume, start networking, and look for a better job somewhere else.

Just a Reminder

AC's a walking lie. Every word out of his mouth is garbage—nobody believes a damn thing he says. He’s not a leader, he’s a joke. Terrible speaker, zero tech knowledge, just hot air and buzzwords.
And yeah, he’s right there helping ship our jobs to India, nodding along like it’s no big deal. But he’ll never own it—he’ll just smile, lie some more, and keep his cushy spot while the rest of us get sc--wed.
He should be the one getting the pink slip. Not us. Not the people who actually know what they’re doing.
