More of the Same Old

Now we’re back to the usual agenda of outsourcing whenever possible!

“The Patient Care Systems hub will develop cloud-based platforms and clinical software to support connected care for patients with implanted cardiac devices, according to a Thursday statement from economic development agency IDA Ireland. The investment will add 85 jobs initially. New roles at the site will include leadership, software engineering and systems reliability positions.”

This place is a slow motion car crash. Get what you can and give as little as necessary for success. It is very easy here. The competition is weak state side and off shore. They don't even know how weak. They believe they are all cream of the crop with the endless meetings filled with seal clapping. Most suffer from that DK effect. Even if you put in the effort but you check the wrong boxes, you will more often than not be knee capped. The few smart ones skate as they look for their opportunity to exit.

The current leaders don't care about America anymore. All they care about is the almighty dollar. Just look at all the R&D and Quality engineers they hired in Hyderabad, India while RIFing good American engineers. To add salt to the wound, they are making us go into the office to hop on to teams to train our Indian counterparts.

Why the continued push to move skilled workforce out of the US?? why is so much US talent being dismissed? Medtronic is a US company. ‘Headquarters’ moved to Ireland on paper through some questionable tax inversion scheme that cost shareholders, especially retirees, millions. Yet the executive committee remains in the US. Seems unpatriotic, borderline illegal, and pushing the limits on ethics.

It’s unclear what this company stands for anymore. The mission and values that founded MDT have been dismissed by the GE invasion and influx of people put in leadership positions who lack med device or regulatory expertise. Companies do need to grow and evolve with the times but MDT seems to have lost its identity. Stock is performing horribly, employee morale is at an all-time low. Leaders are overly focused on globalization without a clear goal of what they want the company to look like and be. MDT seems to have lost focus on product innovation & mission to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life.
