Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

HQ move- All part of the plan

The plan was to allow people to choose to move to Dallas and choose a home near HQ or south, where homes are slightly more affordable. Then move HQ ~26 miles north (which falls within the loophole for severance), adding another hour plus of traffic if you live near downtown Dallas. This will NOT be the only move that will be happening. other reporting locations near Dallas are also moving north.

Coincidently the company is aware of what demographics will be most disproportionally impacted. For those employees who live in south Dallas, this will put your drive (in traffic) to about 2.5 hours each way.

I have credible source that ATT HQ is moving to North Park, GA. The move will finalize in 1Q of 2030

Hilarious. You think any of the C Suite want to live in Atlanta? Texas will always be home.

I just don't see how the City of Dallas could ever let this happen.

It's like women who marry the serial cheaters who dumped their exes for them, then are shocked when they get cheated on.

T dumped SA for Dallas, and now big D may get dumped.

Dallas if it’s any consolation your gas is cheaper and your turkey is cheaper this year.
Unfortunately everything else costs more including your medical expenses and insurance.

@OP
The current location's lease expires in 2030. The city of Dallas is actively canvassing T to stay put as a move out of the city would be $62million is loss tax revenue.
However, CRE admits they have looked at locations in Plano and Irving among other locations.

I just don't see how the City of Dallas could ever let this happen. As far as I'm concerned, the City of Dallas should have had several high level city employees devoted to nothing but keeping AT&T happy and satisfied. This is gonna cost the City of Dallas "Big Time".

@a3 is there a PLE course on location discrimination with a bias on race discrimination. If not , HR now is your opportunity to something good for AT&T. Alternatively move headquarters to India , more cost efficient and you won’t have overpaid antiques hanging on .

South Dallas is predominantly African American and Hispanic with lower median incomes and higher poverty rates, while North Dallas is majority White, more affluent, and has higher education levels and household incomes.
