HR here, this shut down of the government may lead to Veterans affair contract layoffs

we have discussed the last week, with the governments intention to cut funding again once the shut down is over that we will be laying off the following positions. This is not set in stone, it is only what will happen in the event that the government cuts funding again once the government opens up. Our sources have told us to plan for this.

The priority of layoffs will go to employees who have been there long term and should have moved out of that position by now(including team leads) but have not, it is to weed out employees that we can’t plan to continue to grow and prioritize employees that we can grow on less funding. Roughly half of the application support analyst positions, 1/3rd of developers/DBA’s/Devops, and nearly 3/4th of the scrums masters.

From what we have been told this morning, this will be the biggest layoff in the history of our time with the VA if President Trumps goes through with what advisors are suggesting.

WARN

Why was this not posted on WARN?
From the Illinois WARN site: Illinois WARN applies to employers with 75 or more full-time employees (excluding part-time workers) and requires employers to provide 60 days advance notice of pending plant closures or mass layoffs.

A “mass layoff” under Illinois WARN is a reduction in force at a single site of employment that is not the result of a “plant closing” and results in employment losses during any 30-day period (or, in some cases, during any 90-day period) of 25 or more full-time employees if they constitute one-third or more of full-time employees at the site, or 250 or more full-time employees.

This would seem to fit the description and require notice. Is HCSC non-compliant?

"Just IN: President Trump considering a proposal to block US IT companies from outsourcing their work to Indian companies — a move that could wreck Indian IT sector & cost millions of jobs."

Trump’s Tech Meeting

Why was MD not at that tech meeting? So that he could avoid the question of how much money he’s going to invest in The US and how many jobs he’s planning on creating? Because the answer is India?

Both Zuck and Cook are investing 600 billion each.

Boeing won’t win the Navy NGAD

It was a long shot. They won F47, but winning both programs won’t happen. It’s too much risk for the DOD on a company that’s historically been late and over budget on most of the programs. The number of so-called analyst though who claimed Boeing has a good shot, I think it’s very misleading.

MIGA - Make Intel Great Again

I think Trump has some other things up his sleeve that will help Intel and give them an unfair advantage over other companies. I know this seems weird on how Intel spearheaded the Chips act and we are the only company being hosed by it, however I think it might turn out to be a great thing. Let’s give it some time……the Donald still has 3 years.

Why merge with us?

With the culture and functionality in such a poor state, why would anyone willingly want to join us? We will be a poison pill to any partner. Countless case studies exhibiting cultures like ours destroying their new host entity.

Any higher-ups lurking that glanced into the palantir? None of this seems sustainable Is RV and Co just robbing us blind? I dont see the off ramp...

Campaign to White House

Not sure if this will amount to much, but with the recent problems with India and United States, I took it upon myself to go to the Whitehouse website and write a small letter to President Trump that he needs to stop the major Oil and Gas companies moving engineering and technical expertise to India. I cited loss of jobs, knowledge, and local taxes to communities. I finally stated we should not be moving our expertise to a country that wants to buddy up with Russia. Our oil and gas companies have become greedy and although this may not amount to anything, I would appreciate if others would write the White House on their website.

I’m from the Government and I’m here to help

Well, it’s over. Intel is no longer a runner in the game of capitalism. Suggestions for management, the board or the CEO are all irrelevant ant all his time. Intel is now a pariah to the mainstream capitalist economic system. Let it slowly sink in. Hire a therapist if necessary but It’s Over.

Welcome Comrades

You are now working for the first State-Owned semiconductor corporation. Make sure you join the lottery for the opportunity to buy grocery’s at the forthcoming State-Owned grocery stores or a car from one of the the State-Owned automobile corporations.

Forest Service cut 10% of agency’s workforce

  • The layoffs primarily affect employees still in their probationary period, making them easier to dismiss, while public safety positions, including wildland firefighters, remain intact.
  • The cuts coincide with the end of the “Fork in the Road” program, which offered employees to opportunity to resign while staying on the payroll through September.
  • Other federal agencies, including the Department of Energy and Small Business Administration, are planning similar workforce reductions.

The Great Intel Fire Sale, Brought to You by Trump

Trump "America First" doctrine will mean the forced sale of Intel fabs outside of US. The fabs in Ireland and Israel are first on the chopping block, followed by the design centers in IDC Haifa and Bangalore. its over. Panther Lake will be the last product of Intel before selling this group to another fabless company.
Congratz LBT, you ki-led Intel. Good luck everyone.

Government Proposes Rule To Reshape H-1B Visa Selection

The Trump administration plans to end or change the H-1B visa lottery, replacing random selection with a salary-based or weighted system. The Office of Management and Budget is reviewing the rule, which could take effect by March 2026 for the FY 2027 cap.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/stuartanderson/2025/07/21/new-trump-immigration-policy-ending-the-h-1b-visa-lottery/
A similar rule finalized in 2021 ranked applications by wage levels but was never implemented. That system would have excluded most Level 1 and many Level 2 workers, categories that include recent graduates and early-career professionals. The new rule’s title, “Weighted Selection Process,” suggests a lottery with higher chances for higher-paid applicants.

Critics argue this approach disadvantages international students and undervalues talent in lower-paid fields. More than 70% of U.S. graduate students in computer science and electrical engineering are international, and most are paid at Level 1 or Level 2. Employers in science, medicine and education could also be affected.

Opponents say the change conflicts with the Immigration and Nationality Act, which requires petitions to be considered in filing order. Business groups and universities warn the rule could weaken U.S. competitiveness by limiting young skilled workers. The broader issue remains the low annual H-1B cap, which covers only a small fraction of the labor force and leaves high demand unmet.

Quick Numbers Rollup:

  • 85,000 total H-1B cap (65,000 regular plus 20,000 advanced degree)
  • 343,981 eligible registrations for FY 2026
  • Nearly two-thirds of registrations rejected due to cap limits
  • More than 70% of graduate students in computer science and electrical engineering are international
  • 83% of computer science PhDs and 80% of electrical engineering PhDs in U.S. R&D are foreign-born
  • Level 1 and Level 2 wages cover about 90% of recent international graduates

Phase 1 has Started. Soon We'll See Nvidia, MSFT, Google, Meta, AMZN, Tesla, ARM maybe even AMD Start Using IFS!!!!

With the Administration owning 10% of Intel (Phase 1), it's basically guaranteed that domestic companies who want to avoid tariffs and the Administration's ire will start sending business to IFS (Phase 2). Granted, it's unlikely going to be 18A, or even 14A anytime soon (but eventually)... but I think they'll test the waters with 14nm and 10nm... and packaging (heck, even Nvidia and Tesla signed on for packaging before this deal).

Phase 3 will be to arm twist TSMC into taking management of IFS, so it can be efficient and competitive. I am predicting that the Administration will entice TW by selling them more advanced we-pons, and make some more overt statements around TW's sovereignty.

Then finally, Phase 4, in five three to five years, IFS could be spun off as a working, profitable, stand alone company. Any sooner than that, they are just fooling themselves.

Congrats to all! President Trump announces a 10% stake in intel by US Govt

This will be the first step to ensure continuous innovation and cash flow. Now we have hitched ourselves to US taxpayers to maintain competitive advantage.

Those garbage companies like AMD and TSMC must be shivering already in their taiwanese sweatshops.

Next step is to improve yields. Intel will surpass garbage AMD soon wait and watch

Buy American, Hire American.

At least 600 CDC employees are getting final termination notices

At least 600 employees of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are receiving permanent termination notices in the wake of a recent court decision that protected some CDC employees from layoffs but not others.

The notices went out this week and many people have not yet received them, according to the American Federation of Government Employees, which represents more than 2,000 dues-paying members at CDC.
