Absolutely no motivation

There is absolutely no motivation at Dell. Everyone in my group and across my team is just going through the motions. There is no direction, no strategy, just explaining to id10t$ how software is supposed to work and get delivered. Absolutely... — read more

Layoffs not happening

spoke with my manager and he has said he has heard nothing about layoffs so I doubt they will happen

Imagine if the actual low performers are let go

I don't think anybody would be complaining about layoffs if that was the case. But we all know that would mean we'd lose so many useless managers and we can't have that. Who would be going from a pointless meeting to a pointless meeting to go over... — read more

I’m literally suffocating here

Doing a job that I don’t like, which is getting me nowhere and will probably end abruptly one of these days with all those layoffs coming. It’s hard to be motivated under the circumstances. I know you’ll tell me to search for another job. I’ve been... — read more

All job postings removed

In my location in Europe, until yesterday there were about 20 job postings for my site but now they are all removed. We all know what this means, its happening

Will coming massive layoffs make any difference?

Is there a strategy behind it? Anything that will make life better for those who remain? Any plans that will dig out Dell from the hole? Layoffs just for the sake of layoffs are disheartening.

What's currently the best alternative to Dell?

F(M?)AANG is no longer it. Too many layoffs at all of those companies to still make them a desirable workplace. Meanwhile, all of our competitors have the exact same issues as we are having. Toxic work environment, layoffs, erosion of benefits, etc... — read more

Dell hybrid policy is going to change

Word from management is that the hybrid policy is going to change. After the very large layoff that’s coming over the next few months, management will implement its new Dell indica policy that’s designed to make it impossible to stay remote. The new... — read more

Dell is not irrelevant

Dell is a commodity hardware provider. Dell only has 3 competitors in PCs and servers. Because there are few competitors incompetence can flourish. Leadership can get away with being extraordinary and shockingly ineffective and the business will not... — read more

Is there a point in layoffs?

We do have more people than we need. But beyond that I don’t see any strategy to job cuts, any long-term development plans, any purpose or design beyond just cost-cutting via layoffs. That may extend life, but it definitely sounds more like... — read more

Upcoming Layoffs

Was told there will be a round first week of August and they’re already planning additional rounds in Oct/Nov timeframe. Will these ever end? Expect a lot of shifts in groups including some groups shifting completely between L2 leaders.

"The hybrid policy is not going to change"

Hearing this from upper management in every single meeting/town hall. It's clear that they are digging their heels in in response to Tell Dell and external media reporting half of Dell staying remote. It's going to get worse and confirms their plans... — read more

Somebody buy us!

I wish there was a possibility for Dell to be acquired. At least that would give us a chance at getting good leadership that would know how to run this place properly. Outside of that, we're stuck with the ELT that only knows how to solve... — read more

How do layoffs work

How do layoffs work in Dell ? Who makes the decisions on people to leave, who would know about the potential impact at this stage, is it at SVP level ? Or would it filter down to directors

Only sales in August

Does anyone know if it's mostly sales that will be affected in August ? Will engineering be left alone ?

And so it starts

Woke up this morning to notes from 5 friends in India that had been informed that the clock is now ticking on their 2 months til exiting. All in Software development in Bangalore (Bangaluru).

ER

My husband was referred to a new employee relations group recently. Is this new? Is it for the protection of employees or for the benefit of the company?

Nvidia

Latest gossip around the office is that Dell is selling EMC to Nvidia. Doesn't sound right to me. Another thing that suggests something going on is Goals on Storage are not being approved at the usual stupid discount level, and quotes are expiring... — read more

Are any of the rumors about coming layoffs confirmed?

I’m afraid of losing my job. And before some of you tell me all the useless things like “go look for another job”, keep in mind that we are all not in the same situation. I’m in a pickle now, and not in a position to look for something else. I hope... — read more

Can anyone comment with what % reductions are coming in next few weeks ? Is there a formal email going out ?

No big layoffs

I wonder what it means that Jeff C. is toast

I wonder if this is simply the beginning of layoffs, or, maybe it's something else. The rumor mill has it layoffs will happen starting the latter part of this month into late August. *It will be a sad day for many. No matter what you think of... — read more
