Its tax and grant related. Banks and commercial real estate corporations are pishing Government to reduce tax incentives to RTO to bring people back into the city. Investments in CBD are slowing down and ROI on existing projects are now longer.
Yes- I know someone that interviewed there recently for a data scientist position - onsite only and they are only hiring in SF and NYC.
It's a certainty that everyone will follow suit cos they will think "what if we are missing out on something "
