Summer of 69

Actually the summer of 2023. Freddie gleefully laying off thousands of hard working employees (including my reports) to satisfy Elliott’s greed. Let’s check out the results … increased safety and record production. Huge dividends. And the stock... — read more

Decent pay is the only thing keeping me here

Suncor is a far cry from the workplace it was when I first joined. It’s become more stressful and less rewarding, with noticeably weaker and less competent management than before. Streamlining teams without filling critical roles has left the rest of... — read more

Quite a drop

So the annual best places to work at Forbes just came out and Suncor is 237th in the list. How did we drop so far so quickly?

I'm not worried about layoffs

Enough people are leaving to negate the need for additional cuts, at least in my opinion. What concerns me is that management - at least in my group - is refusing to backfill any positions. The more people leave, the harder it becomes for the rest of... — read more

What's the latest on more cuts?

I always get nervous when there’s no chatter about layoffs. It feels like the calm before the storm, and the silence just makes it worse. I hope I’m just worried over nothing, but with this place, you never really know. Especially considering... — read more

Growing Again

In July 2023 my position was eliminated. A month later so was my colleague’s. But here we are in March 2025 only to learn (via LinkedIn) that our Director just refilled it. Hmmm. Does Freddie know? Apparently the type of specialized work we... — read more

Trump Tariffs & Trade (TTT or T³) - March 4 2025

It seems the T³ will come into effect March 4, 2025. We don't expect that the tariffs on Canada's most important export Oil and Gas will last for long. The tariffs on the other sectors in Canada WILL remain. We have a strong Premier here in Alberta... — read more

BC Retail in Jeopardy

The changes to BC LCFS legislation just made being a retailer in BC for Petro-Canada much more difficult. Too bad Freddie’s tunnel vision couldn’t see the “light at the end of the tunnel” was a train. Cancelling energy transition projects in... — read more

Employee Call Moderators

Hey Rich the questions have evolved because the moderators weren’t letting through questions if they weren’t positive. Why the worry about showing the true thoughts of the employees?

Trump Tariffs and the effect on Oil and gas

Any word on how these tariffs will affect us? My peers at other companies have indicated that they have been told (hinted) to put off large purchases as job cuts could occur. Support positions in offices could transition stateside in order to... — read more

All that pain caused by Freddy in Alberta for Nothing

So I compared 2 funds. I compared the S&P 500 to Suncor stock including dividends added to the total return. Turns out the S&P 500 beats Suncor stock. All that pain and damage done to Albertans by Elliot Activist Investors and their puppet Freddy... — read more

Have there really been layoffs?

A lot of talk on this forum about recent layoffs. I have not heard of anything at base plant. Trying to see if there’s any truth to these claims. Where did these so called layoffs happen? Who was targeted?
