Thread regarding Suncor Energy Inc. layoffs

Summer of 69

Actually the summer of 2023. Freddie gleefully laying off thousands of hard working employees (including my reports) to satisfy Elliott’s greed.

Let’s check out the results … increased safety and record production. Huge dividends. And the stock price?

July 2025 $53.01
July 2023 $38.95

That’s a 36% increase baby !!

You talk like a unionized NDP supporter who wants a job for life. Well too bad, Smith and her conservatives are formulating business friendly policies to boost profits and some people will inevitably lose employment, that is the law of free market capitalism.
Expect things to become even more competitive as profitable business policies and possibly even Albertan separation occurs.

just discovered this site, so the op thinks that short term gains are worth firing thousands, I wonder how he will feel if he gets fired?

What I hear is the long term leading indicators are not so good. Capital spending is down, great, but how many projects are deferred now? Extra production but where are the maintenance schedules now? Still at least as long or longer than before. But the board got their bonuses and short term is all they care about.
