The trophy given to him must have a truck with a demolition ball on it?

Break things and as long as you get profits all is good. Just wait until we have a major mechanical failure and they try to blame the employees.

Pros:
• Stock price has risen compared to its peers.
• Increased spending on share buybacks.
• However, this is the only benefit.

Cons:

  1. Reckless Layoffs & Loss of Experience

• Laid off far more people than necessary, exceeding even the hardest limits.
• Resulted in a massive and unnecessary loss of experience and institutional knowledge.
• Many laid-off employees were rehired as contractors, and positions that were cut turned out to be essential.
• Damaged employee morale significantly.
• The award-givers should recognize that Kruger failed in his mass layoffs.

  1. Severe Harm to Fort McMurray

• His actions have devastated the community, comparable to another disaster.
• Average property values have dropped by $50,000 across the board.
• The impact extends beyond just Syncrude and Suncor workers—it affects the entire community.

  1. Reduced Site Safety & Increased Chaos

• Sites are now less safe and more disorganized.
• Many believe the reported drop in safety incidents is just a fluke.
• There is a growing concern that a major disaster is inevitable.

  1. Overworked & Stressed Workforce

• Employees are dealing with heavier workloads and increased stress.
• Constant uncertainty over job security is taking a toll on workers.
• The entire corporate culture has shifted for the worse.

  1. Sabotaging Climate Action & Energy Transition

• Quietly delaying climate initiatives and stalling Pathways Alliance.
• Scrapped Suncor’s previous efforts toward energy transition.

  1. Decline in Suncor’s Reputation & Workforce

• Suncor is no longer an Alberta Top 100 Employer under Kruger.
• Mass layoffs led to an exodus of employees beyond those forced out.

  1. Financial Manipulation & Corporate Greed

• His cost-cutting measures, despite their widespread damage, benefit only himself and activist investors like Elliott Investment Management.
• This is a mass theft of wealth from Canadians and Fort McMurray to fund buybacks and Kruger’s own bonus.

  1. Not a Canadian – Only in it for the Quick Profit

• Kruger has no long-term stake in Canada or the community.
• His leadership prioritizes short-term financial gains over long-term stability.

Final Thought:
Before handing out an award like this, people need to fully understand the devastating impact Kruger has had—not just on Suncor, but on Fort McMurray and Canada as a whole.

Rich Kruger was the model for Elon Musk, and DOGE. Massive cuts with zero forethought to the consequences. The plants are shambolic!

Boooooooooo!!! … Kruger.

Not even Canadian.

From Suncor’s outside he’s a hero, from Suncor’s inside a horror story.

I’m not a fan at all and still don’t believe he holds any benefits to Canada.
