Thread regarding Suncor Energy Inc. layoffs

Where would you look for another job?

It’s not exactly a great job market right now.

I would keep looking if I were you, especially if you live in Fort McMurray since Suncor basically has all the jobs in Fort McMurray right now. If you own a property in Fort McMurray I’d sell as soon as possible and then start renting while you are on your job search and transition. They terminated me and a couple other of my colleagues in Fort McMurray and reopened all of our positions not even a year later, so basically it turns out they needed us which I know they did. Suncor is an highly unreliable employer under Rich Kruger and he really enjoys playing games with people’s livelihoods. If you live in Calgary or Edmonton you don’t need to be so urgent to find another job but I’d still keep looking if you want job security.

Suncor terminated me in July 2023. Now I am a self-employed process engineer and charge $150 / hr.
