The way everything was announced before the whole thing started made it sound like people would be getting cut nonstop for months. That so far hasn't been the case. I’m definitely not complaining, I’m just surprised and wondering if something changed behind the scenes.

They’ve cut ~20% of the workforce today as, “ the business reorganization we announced today, which will impact approximately 20% of our global workforce. Fidelity pushed the non-tech to tech roles during the pandemic. Then finally someone realized it’s better to pay more for people who know what they’re doing.

Next cut will be managers who aren’t qualified and have been in their roles too long. Weak managers cost the firm too much, it’s not just one expense, but there’s a serious ripple effect.

Culture comes from the top down and when the top are filled with people that only have one brain cell, the rest of the company takes a hit.

We’ve definitely been sold to either Goldman or JPM.

It’s just a matter of time now before they announce the sell and layoff of full business units.

We brought someone onto my team last month who used to be a senior manager at a major tech firm. Over a decade of management experience. Two decades total in the industry. He's now an individual contributor at a mid level role. It really shows how quickly a career you spent years building can evaporate.

We used to have that. Can we go back to that time?

We know cuts are coming, but we don’t know when or any real details beyond that. So now we get to sit around stressing and worrying for who knows how long. I’m sure that’s going to do wonders for everyone’s mental and physical health. I really hate what this place has become and the joke we have for leadership.
