There is a term for what we are experiencing, and it is structural failure
We have operated under repeated rounds of cuts and layoffs for an extended period. Each round comes with no follow through and no coherent plan. The result is that the organization has finally reached a breaking point. The systems are brittle. The trust is gone. The momentum is dead. When my own probability of being cut in the near future is as high as it is, why would I buy into any pressure to go above and beyond? The rational choice is to stop pretending that hard work will save me. So that is where I am. I am done.

The layoffs in June are going to be nuclear. PoliSci Legg’s d-mb as fu-k AI push has the whole company on Microsoft’s leash, and co pilot is getting 6x more expensive starting in June. It is an abhorrent failure. He has successfully capped top performer’s usage, and given too much usage to pea brains that ask AI what the weather is today. The cost and mismanagement will be insurmountable, so layoffs of at least 10% will happen.
And all the while, the guy making 30 mil for je-king off in his office and saying “Fiber” all day is perfectly safe, somehow. The stock is down 17% in 10 years, what does he even do? Why do these guys have jobs? They contribute nothing to society but leach from the money made by employees.
WWCC Cuts Jobs to Tackle Budget Deficit
Walla Walla Community College is eliminating 18 positions as part of a cost-cutting plan. This action includes 10 full-time and eight part-time or temporary roles. The college will also leave seven vacant positions unfilled and reduce hours for 11 employees. These staffing changes are expected to save over $2 million by June 30. The college faces a $4.3 million budget deficit due to funding changes and rising costs.

Copper's Dog House Cuts Staff Over Kalamazoo Paid Parking
Joey Gamrat owns Copper's Dog House and Grazing Table in downtown Kalamazoo. Paid parking was implemented on April 1 outside his businesses. Gamrat reports these changes have driven customers away. Right here in DFW, we have hundreds of managers working from home (I.e. Eric Smith team) or sitting in the office closest to their home; And non-market based staff managers spread out across the country working in their pajamas all day. (I.e. Korte org)
And how many managers with minimal skillsets are flying below the radar because their director doesn't want to give up headcount while seasoned managers with broad skillsets are being let go in other orgs.
Meanwhile managers that uprooted their families, moved to Dallas, adhered to RTO are being let go cuz they are the oldest in the team. YES IT IS HAPPENING! Most can't afford to forego the severance & fight it in court.

Twenty-one non-teaching positions remain on the Berkeley Unified layoff list. This figure represents a sharp decline from 351 initial notices. Why do we still need cuts?
Results seem to be great, so why are we still cutting people? If layoffs are happening while the numbers are good, it makes you wonder how bad things would get for employees if results actually started slipping.
TDSB Reduces Central Staff Amid Declining Enrollment
The Toronto District School Board announced hundreds of additional layoffs. These cuts follow previous job reductions last month. The layoffs target 218 central administrative staff positions. The wrong solution
The problem isn't that we have too many people. That was never the real issue. The problem is that our strategy is bad and our systems are broken and have been for some time. But instead of fixing those things, they just cut staff. And then they're surprised when nothing improves.
