RTO just because I am forced to do so. Collaborate with no one - all my meetings are via Teams - Merit 1.5% and gas close to 4 bucks a gallon. Thanks Gail - your stupid policy is costing me money to work here.

Fuel prices
Costing me a hundred a week now from ross to work.cant see myself being able to continue if these hikes continue.just not worth it on these wages.
More RTO Enforcement Due to Gas Prices
Another reason to add for employees to quit, on top of several toxic reasons that AT&T created for the employees is the increase in gas prices. This is a goldmine for AT&T execs who want employees out. You'd think they'd come to their senses, noooo, they are very happy that the increase happens, because it will expedite the quitting. AT&T is not interested in retaining employees and customers. They recently announced to increase the plan of those grandfathered accounts. They do not care. They are hoping that you are TOO LAZY to move out of AT&T plan, and even if 20% do leave AT&T, they still get money from those 80% that are paying more.
So expect more RTO enforcement, even if gas prices reach $12 in CA or $8 in the SE.
Gas Is Going Up Again… Why Are We Still Forcing 5 Days?
Oil is spiking with the Iran situation and gas is climbing. For anyone commuting 50 miles each way, that’s 500 miles a week. At 20 MPG, that’s about 25 gallons every week just driving in circles to get to the office.
When gas pushes toward $5, that’s $125 a week, or over $6,000 a year out of pocket just for fuel.
That’s not insignificant… That’s a real ongoing hit to employees for work we’ve already proven can be done from home.
Even energy agencies have said remote work is one of the easiest ways to reduce demand during spikes like this. Instead, we’re doing the opposite and forcing more consumption and more cost onto employees for absolutely no reason.
At minimum, this should trigger a shift back to hybrid or temporary flexibility until prices stabilize. Forcing five days through this just doesn’t make sense. If they want pointless 5 days they should pay for our gas.
Really? Increasing in-office requirements now?
Increase the in-office mandate right when gas prices are pushing people's budgets to the limit. Nothing says "we value our employees" like forcing them to choose between a paycheck and a tank of gas.
Gas going to $6+...Diesel $8+
Better increase that Texas Campus Budget. On all big major deals Stankeys timing is unmatched!!!
Paying people to do nothing
Why is Xerox still paying people to essentially do nothing? I know quite a few AR and claims jobs that require 1 person tops to do yet they still pay them...
Suppliers about to have their day!
Get ready, every supplier that EM works with is about to show up with a fuel surcharge. They definitely deserve a piece of the pie given how much their costs are going up! Good luck trying to meet your budget!
The commute is becoming increasingly expensive
Three hours round trip, every day. I need this job, so I put up with everything RTO has brought. It's pointless, costly, and drains my time and energy. But with so few alternatives, I don't have much choice. Not once did I expect leadership to reconsider. They know most of us are cornered, and they're counting on it.
Working Remote
Hey Mike…. With regular gas prices over $4 a gallon, how about some relief? Maybe a cost of living raise or the ability to work from home until things normalize again, at least hybrid

ITC
Ship all tech to ITC that’s fine but don’t leave me at PHK.
ITC is not comfortable talking to the biz or leaders so unless you put it all in their hands, they will defer to those left at PHK.
Has to be all or nothing or you have a few at PHK doing all the legwork with wasted money in ITC.
Whatever meagre raises we get
It surely will not even match inflation. Dell is cheap. Life is getting more expensive by the day. If you feel like you have less money, it's because you do. Raises will 100% not fix it.

Money is tight though, right Bandy the Bandit?
CMS Rates and Increased Cost of Care
With stagnant Medicare rates and increased cost of care are certain business lines just at the point where they won’t make enough revenue to be worth it any more? From the sounds of it UHG is letting go of many folks who has been performing well overall and the only reason I can think of is what they were doing is no longer profitable enough. I’m not privy to these sort of numbers but I would interested to know if anyone has any insights. This is not meant to be an excuse for the lay offs and the distress to individuals and families they have inevitably caused.
RTO is bad for the environment and finances
We had to literally buy the second car to our family just because I have to commute 5 days a week different way than my partner. We couldn't share the car anymore. Now imagine how much it costs our family month and all of the emissions.. this is crazy.
ATT vs Starlink
All rural fiber needs to stop being placed . Satellite is the most cost effective and starlink is about to take on a lot of new country fans after seeing starlink advertisements during the NASCAR race ! I need my T stock to go up and I just don’t think we need to place fiber too far past city limits for a couple connections. It is not cost effective… I know because I am in C&E in the South y’all. Does anyone have starlink tha could compare the service to fiber ?
High NA gone
Apparently Intel is not following high NA anymore. What a waste of 300m$ equipments
"Cloud Empowerment Summit"
Anyone else been forced to attend this rushed mess?
Its like Dev Days but with external sales people mixed in, and its been a complete sh-t show. I dont think Ive learned a single thing that I couldnt have gathered from a basic google search. We are blocking off thousands of peoples time for multiple for this, hired a hype man, and are paying consultants to come pitch AI generated slide decks to IT people.
What on earth is going on? Hard to take any of the cost savings talk seriously when we pi-s away money like this
Mgr emp layoff ....., ...... ....
At the current scale, one manager can effectively oversee a team of about 50 employees. Additional management layers add unnecessary cost and overhead without delivering meaningful value.
Vornado Lays Off Dozens Due to Rising Costs
Vornado has laid off numerous employees. The layoffs occurred at its Andover production site. It is also the company's headquarters. CEO Cole Hoppock cited tariffs as a cause. These tariffs are increasing operational costs.

GAO Finds Education Department Layoffs Costly
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a report on Education Department layoffs. The department had reversed plans to lay off nearly 300 Office for Civil Rights (OCR) employees. The GAO estimated these actions cost between $28.5 million and $38 million. The report criticized the department for not documenting potential costs or savings. Education Department officials deemed the GAO's recommendations moot.

lol
Take a look, the new corporate leadership and SWN personnel have added way more costs and increased anxiety across the organization, own up to a wrong doing for the long term and put these people in their place
What’s the best way to ask for a raise during challenging times?
Every time I bring up the topic of a raise with my boss, it gets dismissed. Meanwhile, the cost of living continues to INFLATE, and I’m struggling to make ends meet at home. I’ve been actively searching for other jobs. Applying to jobs every single day but all I’ve received so far are rejections.
DAC Dilemma
Vicki made a huge bet on DAC. To me, the business case was always shaky even if it works PERFECTLY. I’m told it is over schedule and over budget, and we just got rid of OxyChem, which could have been a critical resource.
What if it doesn’t work? Do we have to pay back all of the companies that bought credits? Write off the purchase of Carbon Engineering? Write off the DAC complex?
New Verizon 2025 (2) a year plan.

Already planned on the Verizon 2025 (2) a year plan.

Employees by any Corporation are (considered a line-item expense due to cost of salary, and benefits).
Its nearly Febuary 2026!!!! Any news on pay
Has anyone heard anything, im struggling financially now after years of no rises. Grocery and other costs are astronomical. Its an urgent issue now.
About the tariffs
With Trump threatening retalitory tariffs up to an additional 25% on every country that doesn't support his seizure of Greenland. Germany & other EU countries are massive suppliers for a plethora of chemicals for semi manufacturing. How are we going to be able to afford yet another set of increases?
Fiji - seriously Fiji
Randomly heard recently that IT had a trip with a contractor to (of all places) Fiji to try and find some more low cost resources. Did any of y’all get invited to that trip?
Some quick Google searches show that it’s about 1/3 Cost of Living (COL) compared to Charlotte, so that’s somewhat understandable. But considering the time zone differences with all the other sites, how the heck are we supposed to have team meetings? Or is it only connection via email with no chance of getting global meeting's with existing teams in US / Europe / India.
The Real Price of PNC’s RTO Decision
Let’s stop pretending this five days a week RTO mandate is about collaboration, culture, or productivity. We already proved, clearly and measurably, that productivity increased while working remotely. During the pandemic, employees kept PNC stable, profitable, and operational under extraordinary circumstances. That wasn’t leadership from the top, that was workers carrying the bank on their backs.
Now the “reward” is being forced back into offices to sit on Teams calls all day, while absorbing thousands of dollars a year in new costs - gas, parking, commuting time, childcare, daily life friction - in an economy that’s already on fire. Wages haven’t kept up with the cost of living in years, people are stressed across the board, and somehow the solution is to make life harder for the people doing the actual work.
Let’s be honest about what this really is: empty buildings, tax incentives, sunk real-estate costs, and executive optics. Cities are upset. Balance sheets are uncomfortable. And instead of adapting to a proven, modern way of working, PNC chose to protect assets and executive compensation - at employees’ expense.
This decision makes one thing painfully clear: PNC doesn’t care about its people, its so-called “family,” or the reality employees are currently living in. It cares about making top tier executives even richer, no matter the cost. That isn’t leadership. It’s greed wrapped in a RTO memo. 🖕🏻
Imagine telling employees we have to reduce headcount while count while flushing billions down the toilet
AT&T announced on January 5, 2026, that it will relocate its global corporate headquarters from Whitacre Tower at 208 S. Akard Street in downtown Dallas to a new, modern campus in Plano, Texas.
The new headquarters will be built on a 54-acre site at 5400 Legacy Drive (former Electronic Data Systems/EDS campus, unoccupied since 2018). The company plans to demolish existing buildings on the site and construct a low-rise, horizontal campus designed for collaboration. This will consolidate operations from its current locations in Dallas, Plano, and Irving, affecting around 6,000 employees. Partial occupancy is targeted for the second half of 2028.
Estimated Cost of the Move (Including Demolition and Rebuild)
No official cost figure has been disclosed by AT&T as of early 2026. However, based on the project’s scale and comparable corporate campus developments:
• Land acquisition — Likely in the range of $50–$150 million (the site was part of a larger parcel previously eyed for a $4 billion life sciences district called Texas Research Quarter).
• Demolition — The old EDS campus includes multiple buildings (e.g., two eight-story structures connected by a bridge). Commercial demolition typically costs $4–$8 per square foot; for an estimated 500,000–1 million sq ft of existing structures, this could be $20–$80 million.
• New construction — Modern corporate campuses (with offices, amenities, parking, and green space) often cost $300–$600 per square foot. Assuming 1–2 million sq ft of new buildable space (similar to AT&T’s current ~2 million sq ft downtown footprint but spread horizontally), construction alone could range from $500 million to $1.5 billion.
• Additional costs — Site preparation, infrastructure, IT/data center fit-out, landscaping, employee relocation/transition, and potential incentives negotiations could add $100–$300 million.
• Total estimated project cost — $1–$2 billion (potentially higher if premium amenities like fitness centers, childcare, or sustainable features are included, as seen in similar Texas campuses like Toyota’s North American HQ in Plano, which cost over $1 billion).
This is a rough estimate based on industry benchmarks for large-scale corporate campus developments in Texas. Actual costs could vary significantly depending on design specifics, inflation, and any public incentives from Plano (the city has previously offered reimbursements for site redevelopment). AT&T has emphasized the move as “cost-effective” long-term due to consolidation and employee commute improvements.
The current Dallas lease at Whitacre Tower runs through 2031, so AT&T may sublease or maintain some presence downtown during the transition.
Hello Plano . . .
I wonder how much money we are spending to move?
Why did we start building tankless facilities, they don't work
Tankless facilities are expensive and they don't work, oxyrock just came up with a facility design that's half the price and still uses tanks like normal and is about same emissions as tanked.
Engines settles with flexjet
Engines cant get the work done on time and it cost honeywell a cool $470M in cash plus more than 2billion in market cap today. Nice job.
Going to be tough selling those old designs.
Robotics Team
What does the centralized robotics team do? So far I have only seen them slap Chevron stickers on off the shelf products and produce fancy videos for the home page… but zero reduction in operating costs in the plant, in fact we have more operators now than we did 5 years ago…. ENGINE fuel?
Pay for Travel
So I am one of the people who was home based before and I guess I have to go to the office now until I find something else. Am I going to make more money? Being HBA means I don't have to pay for gas, daycare expenses for two under 5, even food since I can cook at home. Some companies are paying people in the office more money. Is Jones going to do that? I don't get how this benefits me if not. Still having 60% of the office at home but forcing us to come in makes no sense unless there is a financial benefit.
post gazette article on Pnc
I just read the article in the post gazette regarding PNC. I’m not going to discuss any particular company, but what I will chime in on is that it is not ANY company‘s fault that downtown Pittsburgh has fallen apart and no one comes downtown anymore. They have continued to build more housing instead of investing in stores for people to shop. The crime is worse downtown. People have been as--ulted and shot in broad daylight. The whole downtown smells like mari--ana and ur--e. It is an embarrassment of a city and I can’t believe that the NFL draft is coming here next year.
And my final comment… regardless of what company you work for, forcing employees to come downtown is not going to help the economy or boost our city because people are struggling with the money that they are making, and can’t afford to go out and eat every day or park every day. A lot more people are probably using public transportation. I know I couldn’t afford to pay $25 a day to park. In the summer when I would come into work, I used to walk downtown on my lunch but now I’m afraid to. I stay in the building during my lunch. Just off the top of my head I recall a man walking around downtown with a machete, and also a different man was as--ulting women and exposing himself. As a woman, men in leadership positions need to understand the fear that women have of getting as--ulted. Thankfully, this has not happened to me, but I know someone that this happened to downtown. She is traumatized.
If the mayor of the city is going to put pressure on local companies to bring their employees into work to boost the downtown economy, it is not going to work. We are not all millionaires that can afford to go out and eat every day and shop at Larimer‘s. They have removed all of the cheaper, eating places like McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Arby’s and others. To eat lunch at one of the restaurants downtown plan on dishing out at least $30 for a meal. We in the middle class do not make enough money to do that.
Please note these views are of my own opinion, and I am not speaking on behalf of anyone else, trying to represent a company or speaking on behalf of any particular company.
How may employee salaries are needed to remodel a floor?
Thank you HMP
Aviation Division
I saw MM just posted a position for a new corporate pilot salary of 240k to 320k. I was not aware that MM employs 14 pilots and an additional 21 highly paid support staff.
So let’s just say the average employee expense Is 200k a year that is at least 7 million in salaries plus the cost of the multiple aircraft, including insurance, flight fees, fuel, and whatever else is needed, the total expense is probably at least 10 million per year times the last ten years = 75 to 100 million accounting for inflation. Just so the SLT flys luxury and isn’t subjected to joe public ,the people RC always says MM value so much as our customers. All the while the average employee is nickel dimed on raises and benefits. Anyhow just wanted to share. Happy Holidays to all!
Verizon Corporate Jets
Hi Guys, at a moment in time there were 6.
Do the company stills uses 3 ? I cannot track them on flight radar.
Think about how much they cost to operate
