Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

More RTO Enforcement Due to Gas Prices

Another reason to add for employees to quit, on top of several toxic reasons that AT&T created for the employees is the increase in gas prices. This is a goldmine for AT&T execs who want employees out. You'd think they'd come to their senses, noooo, they are very happy that the increase happens, because it will expedite the quitting. AT&T is not interested in retaining employees and customers. They recently announced to increase the plan of those grandfathered accounts. They do not care. They are hoping that you are TOO LAZY to move out of AT&T plan, and even if 20% do leave AT&T, they still get money from those 80% that are paying more.

So expect more RTO enforcement, even if gas prices reach $12 in CA or $8 in the SE.

“Cubicle”. Not “cubical” .

@b7 I’ve been a field tech and a cubical tech. I’ll take the field. I hated being locked to a cubical. Wfh was cool while it lasted.

@af why are so afraid of AI? Be the AI or support it. Did you tell that to the milkman when he lost his job because we have better refrigeration now? Jobs historically get obsolete. Either get on with it or get crushed by it. AI is the new thing that maybe you need to embrace or work alongside it. Do you even know how many jobs became obsolete as time passes by?

@an work is done where your laptop is at. Again, if you dont have the skills to be allowed to wfh (field techs, retail employees etc.) Then dont be a hater. People here have worked wfh and hybrid way before covid. Dont be daft.

@ay I don’t doubt that you’ve been here longer and were not required to be in office. Your comment was that nobody was required to be in office and that is not the case.

Kindly work in the office. If you are not there you can and will be replaced in Romania, Argentina, or Montenegro. Happening everywhere. That's where we are now. Let's fight while we can before India and AI takes over commissions

This is the d-mbest thread I’ve seen here yet. It’s not possible to enforce MORE than what’s already being done.

@am maybe for your job out in the field. I’ve been here longer than that and I can tell you the majority of my career has been worked from home.

@af

Fantastic insight. I'm sure that no one has, or ever will be, laid off as long as they are in-office. Completely unfathomable.

💯

@a3

Guess what? Those folks had secure jobs that paid enough for one worker to raise a family.

Let me know when we get back to that. Until then, enjoy your boot.

Stop sniveling and realise that work is done in the office. Gasoline goes up and down. See you at the water cooler

@ad “No one was ever required to be in the office 5 days before Covid”. Totally false statement. I’ve been here 29 years and I know better.

@a4 Ok, you're right (LOL!). Now let's see what happens two to three years from now when AI takes over your job. Return to this post if it still exists or take a picture of it to remind you of your words. Good Luck!

@a3 lol that is only relevant for people with no skills like you and your ancestors perhaps? Just so you know as well, COVID was not the defining factors of WFH. People in this company had been WFH or hybrid way before COVID. So that is not really a valid argument. So yes, people with skills and talents WILL quit. Maybe this is an eye opener for you to improve your skills and be marketable so you do not get STUCK under an abusive practice like your ancestors did. People have options now. I get that economy is hard, that is only half of the problem, the other half is your lack of marketable skills. Get my butt to WORK? or you mean an OFFICE? work happens where your laptop is at. This is an enterprise position. Not farming.

@OP NO employee is going to quit willingly in this economy. You don't know what you are talking about. Have you tried looking for a job in this economy with AI taking over jobs? What do you think people generations ago did when prices were high? Do you think they quit? What did you parents and grandparents did? They went to work everyday on time cause in those days, you had to punch in when you got to work and punch out when you left the building. (look it you on youtube if you're a GenZ). Before covid happened, people were required to go into the office 5 days a week and sometimes even on weekends. And before computers, everyone went to the office. So stop being lazy and stop playing video games, and get your but to work if you want to put food in your mouth. Money doesn't grow on trees.
