Here is my story. I made it 13 years at exxon before before quitting. No retirement for me except some of the pension lump sum. The lying a hole hr snake said I would not get anything but I got a little. I made several million dollars during my time... — read more

Pioneer and Midland is my home
I grew up in Midland and worked for Pioneer. I am watching with alarm as jobs are being shifted to Houston, Argentina, and India. It looks like the only jobs that will be left in Midland are operations. I am an engineer. Pioneer offered career growth... — read more
Hard work not noticed or rewarded
Had a mid career experienced hire employee tell me he just likes to keep his head down and let his work speak for itself. He is on the fast track for a PIP. The psychos will notice and take huge advantage of him. I tried to warn him.
COED what is it?
Saw COED mentioned in a post and have heard it mentioned before but have no idea what it stands for or how the process works. It has to do with approving roles but that is all I know. Meets once a month? Who can shed light on this? What does it stand... — read more
Greenspoint assigned parking
Remember how at GP long time employees had assigned parking spots? VPs even had a separate section on the ground floor. Then when we moved to EMHC it was announced that there would be no assigned parking for anyone even VPs. It sure wasn’t long... — read more
Leadership is driving us off a cliff
The people running Exxon have no clue what they're doing. They're making terrible calls that are going to sink the company and take all our jobs with it. Does anyone have faith they can actually steer us to safety?
Shell is adopting forced ranking this year. Asking for honest input…or venting either will do.
Hey XOM people. We’ll be adopting your forced ranking system this year, PIPs for 0.7s etc. So many rumors here and nothing from management when we ask so I thought I’d go to the source. Is the distribution by team regardless of size or does the... — read more

Eagleford Divestment
Is XOM starting to high grade and dispose challenged operating assets? 1000 wells struggling to produce 12000 bopd on a good day. Subsurface expecting substantial declines in production and limited appetite for further exploration and development
Nothing to get excited about
Work used to excite me as did the careers within a career promise. Wish I still felt that way.
What is happening in Science building?
Something strange going on at EMHC science building this week? A lot of visitors. What is going on?
More cuts coming soon?
Do we think there will be another wave of job cuts? Sometimes it seems like the goal is to eliminate every position here.
Eagleford sale
Does anyone know where the Eagleford asset that is for sale is located in Texas?

The obvious
Zuckerberg paid 1 hire $1.5 BILLION. Then laid off 600 long-term employees. The hire? Andrew Tulloch from Thinking Machines Lab, an AI research monster. This just reinforces the obvious: Companies do what’s best for them. Here's what I... — read more

Put on PIP outside of cycle
Heads up that off cycle PIPs do happen at Exxon. I was put on one this week outside the usual review window after generally positive feedback. Posting so others are not caught off guard. Document everything and ask for clear expectations.
Are we an oil company or a PSMS training company
New business line announced! PSMS for the win! How many people and hours are spent on PSMS? We should have a separate job code for PSMS. The PSMS monstrosity just keeps growing bigger and bigger and bigger.
Jumping ship?
I’ve agreed to go out for an interview with a competitor. Never thought it would be me looking for roles outside of XOM. I’ve enjoyed my career for the most part, and have generally been ranked well in my 10 years. Past couple of years I got 10%+... — read more

Don't be impatient about going on the ground in Venezuela
God knows how it will all play out, not only for our company. And let's face it, it won't make any difference for us lowly folks either way. The axe never stops swinging, and nobody will value your hard work or the risks you take anyway.
D&S is a joke
