My RTO Exception denied

I am really sad to see that I was hired as a remote and now suddenly became hybrid. I am 45 miles far from office. At this point I dk how I’ll commute daily 90 miles 3 days a week. I shouldn’t have trusted them. Horrible exp.

Prepping for a buyout/merger?

I’ve heard rumors from external sources that these USAA mass layoffs (specifically the Bank) is in prep for some kind of merger or buyout. I know it’s a rumor that’s been around for a while…. Anyone have any info there??

Tired of thinking if I'm next

I'm thinking that maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to subtly let the manager know that I'd like to be on the list for some of the next layoffs. Some people tell me that it is not the wisest idea. What do you think? I can no longer bear this pressure... — read more

The company will regret it

It is easy to make a mistake, but it is often very difficult to correct it. Maybe the leadership thinks it will be easy without hard workers who added value here, but I'm afraid that cutting such people is a mistake that will no longer be... — read more

Layoff in DDI

Layoff confirmed in DDI (part of SDB) in the design org Tuesday afternoon. Employee workforce experiences team - a mix of FTE & contractors were impacted.

Aml?

Heard aml is next in chopping block…who is going first??

I try to stay under the radar

The toxic atmosphere that many here mention is a reality. Backstabbing has become part of everyday life and of course some of us here have become more anxious and tense than ever before… I don't have any special advice on how to deal with so much... — read more

The way layoffs are done makes no sense whatsoever

There are plenty of employees who would willingly leave if provided with severance. All of them would not mind leaving one bit and would be happy that they are providing somebody else with an opportunity to stay at work. So why don't they offer... — read more

Dirty Secret At USAA

There are lots of prior service folks at USAA. If you look around at the parking lot when a lot of vehicles are there, you will see plenty of DV plates. Lots of USAA employees are receiving big VA disability checks. I know because I am one of those... — read more

I wish this wasn't true

I can only speak for the banking/finance aspect of things as my experience hasn't been in insurance but within the finance world, USAA is a joke. It's actually a liability to bring someone over from USAA into a SIB since everything they learned... — read more

USAA Way Experience

No need to attend that tomorrow. If you have worked at USAA for more than 5 years, then you know why it WAS a special place to work. You don't need 20 fake interactions to know why USAA is NO longer a special place to work. If USAA is serious about... — read more

Coworkers are getting nasty these days

With the looming layoffs and general environment of this company, people I would once consider a friend are now starting to act real sketchy. People no longer want to help each other and are looking for reasons to "one up" each other or note their... — read more

Theory: Wayne is doing what he was hired to do

It's entirely possible that Wayne was hired to do the layoffs and cut expenses and reduce the 401K age-based contribution by the board. It would explain his severance package and pay raise...he knows he only has a few years in the chair before he is... — read more

My RTO z exception was approved ECIO

They are being fair in my eyes. Anyone else have a request granted or not granted ? I’m over 60 miles and caregiver for a disabled individual

Enablers v. Non Enablers

Unpopular opinion I have to speak up for Wayne, didn't he say the goal with layoffs & restructure is to eliminate all the unnecessary enablers? So we don't have projects with five directors heckling one lead?

Only join USAA if you are desperate for ANY job

If that's not the case keep walking and don't look back. I joined about a year ago and most of the things that drew me here during the interview process have either changed or were greatly exaggerated in the first place. Don't fall for the same... — read more

Productivity will be drastically reduced

It is possible to treat employees badly and not have to worry about a mass exodus because the job market is dismal and many cannot leave. However.. What will happen to the productivity of so many disappointed employees in the office? They certainly... — read more

They’re denying exceptions

If you don’t want to go in, this is the time to RUN and apply. Don’t let your manager talk about flexibility if remote is important to you. There are plenty of companies with remote roles. You have time to study for interviews now, so do it. Even... — read more

Get out if you can

There are many much better options out there, you just need to start looking.

More Bank Layoffs Today

The bank quietly laid off a small number employees today. The stealth lay offs seems to preceded larger ones. So I anticipate more in the next few weeks. I remember months ago when Paul and company said the bank was done with lay offs for the... — read more

I can’t believe this

I don’t work at USAA but I’m a member. I got this website when I was trying to figure out what was going on there, and frankly if I should pull my money from the bank and go someplace else. I honestly don’t know what to say, other than I’m... — read more

Hired Remote, Exception Denied

For those hired remote after March 2021, it’s been confirmed the promise made at hire is not a valid exception regardless of what paperwork you have. If you live within 60 miles of an office, your status will be changed from remote to hybrid. It... — read more

Tanking Pulse

USAA has hit a new low and the retribution policy is little more than lip service. More lies from Wayne’s crack pot failed big bank wanna-be executives. My team was warned today by our manager who delivered the message on behalf of our director... — read more

Competitiveness

I feel awful when I start thinking about how much this place has been ruined by terrible leadership. We are less and less competitive, it's as if they don't care about competitiveness at all anymore?

Fire Wayne Peacock

How can you oversee a 1 billion dollar loss and keep your job? What value has his cost to the organization brought? How has he made USAA better? This is a continuously profitable company for a long, long time. Now we lose a billion and rather than... — read more

Next Round/Rounds

I know some of you know when the next rounds are hitting. When will they be? We all know there has and continues to be working sessions on identifying who to let go.

How do they justify this?

Do you know this company never posted a loss in the history of the company even during the great depression, so how in the world do they justify a loss so big this year which obviously has resulted in layoffs. I think when they start laying off they... — read more

Give me Severance!

I can’t stand this. The people they’ve laid off were doing their share of work. They kept the freeloaders and just enough of us who are also doing our share of the work, and who now have to do our share and the laid off employees share. But... — read more

Job-search process

The Pendulum

We all know that the pendulum swings. This is why some of my colleagues refuse to go back to certain companies and they have a very bad reputation in industry. It seems like not such a short time ago, talent was leaving USAA. Doesn't USAA realize... — read more
