Gaslighting at the Employee Meeting??

I watched the employee meeting live on UTV this morning and during the Q&A portion, the facilitator asked Wayne a question from Slack regarding limited growth opportunities for Remote workers now that the company is embracing RTO. As a remote employee, Wayne's response was shocking to me because he alluded to the fact that the ELT may be looking to reduce the number of Remote employees in the future.

I went back to UTV just now to re-listen to Wayne's response and the entire question has been removed from the recording! Does anyone else remember this topic during the meeting? Definitely feels like a lack of transparency or even gaslighting at play...

Or just flat out wrong and that's why it was cut from the recorded version.

"His advice to remote employees was ‘Be bold and apply for that hybrid job.’. Then he went on to say make a case for why you are the best person for the job. My take was he was either:

Passing the buck to recruiters and hiring managers to be the bad guys
Inferring that exceptions will be made, which other communications have explicitly said no exceptions."

Seems like employees need to record the employee meetings for themselves.

As an employee on borrowed time (part of the last layoff) I was incredibly disappointed to hear him say “…if you have a compelling case as a remote employee” because I know it isn’t a viable “act of courage”. I’m a tenured employee, meet minimums and preferreds for postings, have other people in my office or other regional offices working remotely to a SAT team in the same role, and am on a 60 day notice who wants to stay. How much more compelling does the case have to be? Still, the answer has been “no” from recruiters and hiring managers.

OP…every recorded town hall is reviewed by General Counsel before being posted. They decide what to remove or edit. His response probably was something that can used against him or the company.

Remote employees (managers/staff - not IPs yet) and seniors will be going back into office in a month. Should be released officially next week. 3 days a week then Jan it will be 4 days a week.

Recruiters WILL NOT interview a remote person. I am so tired of the EC saying these lies. We(remote) have no future here at USAA.

Posts are now disappearing. Very interesting, but not surprising. Don't visit this site with your office equipment.

He kept reiterating that USAA is working to get all employees closer to an office. He also ended his answer on that note.

That link doesn’t seem to be working either. Now I’m intrigued: what is/was the post?

Wayne said "we want to support our members where they choose to live" (re: insurance). But he will not support employees where they choose to live (unless it's within 60 miles). What a hypocrite.

He used the word "courage" in describing a remote person going out and applying for these roles.

OP here - you’re exactly right (I don’t remember his exact wording either btw). My question is why did they remove that whole section from the recording? I rewatched the entire Q&A and that part was gone

ELT? I don’t remember that specifically.

I do remember Wayne’s response being something to the effect of “If you want to apply for a role, apply and make a compelling case for why you’re the best person for the role.” Then he said something like “I expect that the number of remote roles in the future will decrease.”

I may not be quoting exact words, but I think that was the “gist” of his answer.
