They are doing a purge. What will the environment be like after, both at USAA and here on the site. Sometimes that person who is a bit of a salty crab apple can be a high performer. They know they have skills and that's where they derive some confidence. In a normal company, it's management's job to soothe them and keep them in check so the company can extract value without having them kick up too much dust. So after firing all these people USAA will be left with the individual contributors who are meek, humble, and "nice", who smile a lot and always say yes to everything but hmmm for some reason wouldn't you know management prefers to assign the complex tasks and projects elsewhere, or their manager ends up having to pick up 70% of their work because they can only do the basic easy portion. Maybe USAA's plan is to bring in replacements at lower pay who are extremely talented and also love being treated like dirt. Prediction: they will bring in their shiny new toys, get frustrated once reality sets in, then start ripping off heads before they fling their discarded toys in the corner to be taken out with the trash. Then repeat.

They’ll just move on to another financial services company the way these other people do. Look at the resumes of the latest EMG. You’ll see the pattern. The company is beyond saving, so do what everyone else is doing. Apply to another company for more money and less disappointment.
They are truly kidding themselves if they think they’re going to increase productivity with a bunch of disgruntled employees to whom they’ve pi---d off, and betrayed
But hey, as long as the replacements are close to an office and can be forced to come in 8 days a week, all the better.
