Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Buckle in, remote friends.

Expect your calls to be picked apart word by word. It does not matter if you’re meeting your metrics. It does not matter if you’re new or seasoned. If you’re remote, you’re in their line of sight. And not in a good way.

Goals revolving purely around the subjectivity of management are being laid out and of the hundreds of requests you take each week the 1-2 you fumble on will be sifted out and held up high as an example of how you’re just not doing your job correctly.

Brush off your resume and be ready.

Stop the fear mongering OP. Not a remote worker, but this post one useless since it doesn’t help a bit

Wish this was not true, but I know lower level leaders who have been in brainstorming meetings where the agenda is to figure out ways to get people back in the office. That’s how much pressure is coming from the top.

Insurance seniors/leadership will also be forced 4 days a week in office regardless of how long WFH. Total 180 of how this company used to operate and pride remote work.

MSRs and some others have been remote for years; long before Covid. What about military spouses? What about those whose remote status is an accommodation for a disability? They could be setting themselves up for lawsuits for discrimination against someone with a disability. What is his thought process on getting rid of all remote when USAA has had it for years and years

If you get laid off before vesting, do you lose all of your employer 401k contributions?

I've been telling my MC friends to have a Plan B for MONTHS. Most aren't listening because they are still holding out hope for things to go back to the way they were. It's sad.

Wayne pretty much said it, without coming flat out and saying it. His goal, those remote folks would consider moving closer to regional offices in the next 12-18 months. My prediction, in the next year, the remote folks will either be asked to move closer, at their own expense, or they’ll get 60 days notice.

100% accurate for all remote roles… not just the phones. Remote APO/APM roles are also being targeted.
