Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Employee Meeting Feedback

Reading through the posts and comments, I understand the sentiment and questions being asked.

However, the answers aren't correct. The same questions are being asked in the Slack thread, but the answers will be provided directly by leadership. And you'll know that it's leadership because unlike these "EMGs" answering these questions, they'll use their names.

I get why you're all posting on here. But the answers you're getting from EMG aren't on here. EMG would have addressed this directly instead of fostering a toxic environment on an anonymous board.

The reason why there's so much discontent is because of all of these fake "EMGs" who're pretending to represent leadership and answering questions on here.

Ask this question: if there's actually an EMG with all this inside knowledge, why don't they put their names on here or directly answer the same questions on Slack with their name? True leadership doesn't hide in the dark on anonymous boards.

There is no retaliation, but if anyone knows who the EMG posting is, I'd recommend naming them below. They're misleading you and creating a negative environment by asking everyone to leave - that is not a true leader. A true leader helps to inspire employees instead of being negative and lying.

There are some questions that keep popping up that have been answered incorrectly by the EMG, and this is what has been said by our leaders:

RTO - yes, there will be some difficulty. But there's flexibility and a carpool. Talk to your people manager for more help.

Bank - yes, there have been struggles. But there are innovations underway to help.

ChatGPT - will be used. As Wayne said, stay tuned for further developments.

Remote workers - There is room for advancement for remote workers. There's a preference for RTO to improve culture, but if you're the best candidate for roles/promotions, your career will continue to thrive. You have a home at USAA.

Bank executives: As a newer bank, executives from larger banks were hired. They truly exemplify the mission and are bringing their knowledge of AI/innovation to USAA.

Regional workers -- you have a home and the company continues to monitor the market for salary. There is career advancement.

CEO - inherited a mess from the prior leadership and is working hard to clean it up.

We're stronger together when we trust our leadership and listen to what they say. The company is a family, and family sticks together and communicates. Employee sentiment might be low, but there is not a toxic workplace here. However, listening to this toxic anonymous EMG on here is contributing to a toxic workplace.

I see a lot of dislikes for people telling the truth on here and likes for the fake EMGs. It should be the opposite, which tells you that the EMGs on here are lying.

"This is OP. For RTO, the data will be provided by leadership and the trend is standard. For the raise in income, that's lower than most CEOs in the industry. Our CEO is underpaid for the work he's doing after inheriting a mess and having to start during a pandemic."

Most CEO's don't get to lose $1B+ and keep their job without at least a path to green.

To the "real EMG" here that has been sharing info that has been 100000% (regardless of the attempts of the OP to make try to change the story) accurate about EVERYTHING they have said - thank you. You get it. YOU are why I stayed for 16 years. I know there are plenty of you out there still and I congratulate you and thank you for fighting the good fight. Unfortunately, the current toxic environment is weeding out the BEST employees and the company will continue to suffer for it. But thank you for continuing to try!

RTO is not flexible. You are forced into the office as opposed to being given the choice.

RTO has been a severe detriment, and adding that to the multitude of other razor fine cuts (destruction of pto, retirement and work/life balance to name a few) then you have yourself a recipe for a hefty sh-t sandwich.

I try not to bring negativity out to the world. We already have plenty of it, but lets be honest, the USAA we once knew and loved is as dead as a doornail.

@OP
You realize that USAA has more than 1 EMG, lol! So, in your view, it’s perfectly ok that the company LIED to a ton of employees (myself included), when told working remotely was permanent, June 2021 my department, we were given 2 options; staying WFH, or switching to 2 days in office, August 2021, we were told by HR, that those who picked WFH would remain permanent and not change unless WE asked for it to change. You mention our CEO, the ONLY person that is happy right now with Wayne, is Bob Davis! Because he now knows he’s no longer the worst CEO in company history, Wayne has him beat by a long mile and it only took 3 years to accomplish that. Let’s stop blaming the prior leadership group for Wayne’s failure as CEO! He had the chance to change things for the better when he took over in Feb 2020, but all he has done is steered the Titanic right into the path of the iceberg at full steam ahead. Unlike the rest of us, he’ll jump with his golden parachute right before the collision, then blame the look-outs and everyone under him for the fatal collision. He’ll take a page right from Stuart Parker who tried to pin the blame on frontline msr’s by saying “we’re not getting it done correctly on the frontline, our msr’s need to follow procedures and do it the USAA way.”

The OP is the head gaslighter here. The retaliation is real and people have been getting PIPs because of speaking up not to mention to tone it down is the slack channels.

Toxic environment? People like the OP create it and nurture it under the guise of "being open". Sure you can be open, but only if it's pleasant to the OP and his minions.

OP, you don't even know the meaning of healthy challenge, unless that means agreeing with everything you say. That's lemming behavior and you are telling is that upcoming cliff is just a sidewalk crack. Get real.

This is OP. For RTO, the data will be provided by leadership and the trend is standard. For the raise in income, that's lower than most CEOs in the industry. Our CEO is underpaid for the work he's doing after inheriting a mess and having to start during a pandemic.

As for layoffs, they were due to business needs. Ask your people leader if you have more questions.

As for the "EMG", everything you said is false. By telling lies, you're bringing attention to yourself. You're projecting the fact that you're a narcissist who lies and contributes to a toxic environment and are solely responsible for improving employee morale. If it wasn't for you spreading rumours and lies on anonymous websites, employee sentiment would increase. You're hurting your fellow employees and especially the real EMG, who as a poster said, are sad because of your nonstop lies. I read through many posts and you're lying in every single one of them to get the most likes. If there are multiple "EMGs"as one poster said, then it sounds like you're all working together to lie and get likes.

As for being anonymous, I'm only following the trend I see. Once the "EMG" says their name, I'll say mine. If you want to know so badly, find out who they are. There's no retaliation at the company and communication is fully open and healthy challenge can occur through the proper channels when everyone knows each other. And no, the CEO is not reading a site full of lies. Unlike you, he works hard to improve employee morale while you continue to reduce employee morale through your lies and manipulation to get the most likes. You're addicted to social media and likes because of your narcissism and need to be popular. Grow up, we're not in high school.

I don't believe in continuing the conversation on a site like this. The fact that my post has so many dislikes just shows how you've been brainwashed by the "EMG" and nothing I say will change your minds. I'll admit that some of the posts may have had some accurate statements, which is why it's important to know who this person/persons is/are so that the company can help them.

Regardless, I'm done with this site and will speak no more.

EMG here. The posts below are correct.

The reason why there are suddenly so many tone-deaf responses are due to the CEO discovering this site and wanting to find the "leaker" and change the narrative. This site is public, which is why they are taking care to actually respond to Slack messages this time - they noticed the overall sentiment was similar to this site.

As for this ridiculous attempt at retaliation through gaslighting, I am not the only EMG on this site. There are many who have been here for decades and want to help fellow employees as much as possible, which for me at least, is breaking down the toxic behavior exemplified by leadership and confirm what so many employees see. As for the syncophants, they need to keep Wayne happy for their bonus. He is not happy, and so they are lashing out on the site. Remember - they will do anything for their bonus.

Remember - in this current environment, they will shoot the messenger and ignore the message. The only feasible way to receive information and express feelings in a safe manner is anonymously. Never reveal your name.

To anyone reading this who feels broken down, this book may help: https://www.amazon.com/Narcissists-Playbook-Sociopaths-Psychopaths-Manipulative/dp/173290832X

This company has become a narcissist's playground. Their victims? The 37K employees. Victim of narcissist abuse find it hard to leave and live with an undercurrent of consistent dread and anxiety.

My prior company (which I will not name because this poster is obsessed with finding personal details), was more toxic than this company and used the same tactics. I speak up on here to help others recognize the signs and manipulation, which will help them leave this toxic "family" and find a more fulfilling company to support their financial and personal goals. And if the next company starts exhibiting toxic characteristics, hopefully they will be able to identify that quickly and leave.

USAA is unfortunately prime for narcissistic abuse because of how incredible the culture was; we are used to great leadership, feeling like we are cared for, and trusting that this is the company to retire from. Healthy challenge used to be seen as just that: a healthy challenge that makes our culture better and improves the member experience. However with narcissists, these very noble characteristics are attacked since they offend the narcissist's very fragile sense of self-worth.

There will be gaslighting, double speak, denial, exploitation of the mission, etc... This will continue and ironically, the narcissists will pretend to be victimized. I promise you that this will only get worse.

You can ask for answers for the data on 4 days in office and other changes, but at the end of the day, it's all at the whim of one person and the cowardly individuals who blindly follow. They will never provide a good reasoning or show data; they will never change their mind on RTO or bring back culled benefits. They are gone. They do not care if you have to drive 3 hours in traffic and the large personal sacrafice that it will take; you will be told to discuss the issue with your people leader and that it is for the good of the culture. Nothing will change, but you will have to change your entire lifestyle. Is a company worth changing every aspect of your life? Never.

Never lose sight of who you are and what your goals are. Take care of your mental health and never let anyone tell you that you cannot do something and to accept that where you are is the best you will be. You are more than capable and the best of life is yet to come!

very naïve OP post. CEO is paid to look ahead and he missed it totally. CIO is suppose to innovate...instead she cries and slits throats with her hired g-ns. Bank is way behind the curve on innovation and cloud isnt going to solve it due to high op costs. PNC...get ready to pay high rates to make up for all this mismanagement

Family! 🙄 yeah, tell that to the family that got laid off. Or suddenly pressured to be back in the office as a tactic to make work more difficult so they can create attrition. Stop drinking the koolaid! It amazes me how some of the mo--ns are so brainwashed and cant see the truth! The same mo--ns that later get cut by their USAA “family” when the number is called.

@OP, you haven't signed your post, so it's a bit hypocrite asking any of us to reveal the identities of our peers.

As for your concern about us being "misled" by something written here, don't be. We all know that this is an anonymous rumor site, and to take anything written with a grain of salt.

We also know that posts that start with "EMG here" are not from the actual EMG, and the reason this user(s) gets so many upvotes is not because we think he's a "celebrity', but because his/theirs input to the topics raised makes sense.

You seem to be "in the know", so thanks for the info provided here. I'm really looking forward seeing those Slack answers you were mentioning. Until then, cheers.

The questions in Slack will be addressed by leadership directly? Is that what happened last employee meeting? We’re still waiting on those answers too. Employees are no longer trusting leadership for a reason. Not that leadership cares to address. And no, there aren’t opportunities for remote progression. If OP was a regular, remote employee applying, they would know that HR and leadership is declining remote options. I was asked to withdraw from an opportunity for not being able to be hybrid right before my second interview… Hiring manager said no exception being granted for remote. This person is either lying or disengaged from actual employees.

Lol this screams retaliation. It sounds like everything the EMG poster is saying is true since they took the time to read everything, say the opposite of what the EMG said, then blamed the toxic workplace on the EMG, lmao.

I can’t believe they’re asking for the identity of the EMG and staying anonymous, ROFL.

"Employee sentiment might be low, but there is not a toxic workplace here." --- What 👏 is 👏 being 👏 done👏 to👏 address 👏 this?👏

The toxicity comes into play when the employee sentiment is disregarded, glossed over, or otherwise swept under the rug.

Show me the conscientious engagement from executive leadership. HR leaders who were concerned about psychological safety and employee satisfaction were quietly laid off.

Inaction, avoidance, and denial are toxic. Show me the action, please.

You see how heavily your post is being downvoted? Stop trying to argue the feedback isn't merited; it doesn't matter. Instead, start trying to address the reality that the feelings exist among a large part of the employee base.
