Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Remote

When they asked remote employees to move back were you offered moving assistance and what did that look like? Survived yesterday but still anxious about a RTO mandate

Nah It’s unlikely to happen. Reasons being that they’ve been doing smaller scale layoffs for the past year or so and started down the RTO path so full RTO for remote TMs would have been low hanging fruit. Also diff pyramids have already done their versions of full RTO and cutting remote roles. Other companies have attacked remote work aggressively, so they could’ve gotten away with it. There’s a much smaller footprint of remotes now that the juice is likely not worth the squeeze. I could go on and on, doubtful, however some people who are bitter about it will spread rumors and wish it on their colleagues.

I’ve heard rumor that there will be an RTO mandate in Jan/Feb, or just Q1 in general, so I’m also wondering about this. I wonder if they kept remote people on because they knew they could let them go without severance through an RTO mandate

When was this mandate announced? Is this mandate team specific? What if whole team is remote?

@OP I am/was remote and was never given an option to move back. I was with the company for 24 years, moved from mn 4 years ago. Was let go yesterday with no option to return.
