I just got my Monday morning 'business update' meeting invite. Should I be worried....yikes. I'm a remote employee too.
Uplift(ing) news
RYAM held a company wide meeting on Wednesday April 15th titled “RYAM Uplift” with goal of uplifting employees hearts and minds. The meeting quickly jumped off the rails when it was clear that leadership had no plans on actually taking questions via the provided Slido app. Employees grew concerned over the poor leadership under former CEO DeLyle Bloomquist who was outwardly hostile to employees on numerous occasions. Questions around the third in a string of fires at RYAM largest facility in Jesup, GA was a hot topic as it impacted spending coming out of their annual outage. Overall sentiment among employees is that leadership is out of touch with employees at the plant levels.
Fake Repairs
Conway management threatening employees with handling if the don't get ridiculous yard repair number. Being told to replace parts unnecessarily just to hit the numbers. Any other locations pushing this? AAR/FRA?

R&D Layoffs
I know some LG1/LG2 roles have been eliminated across North America. Not sure if the L-1 to L11 populations also would get affected. Scary days ahead !!!

April 2026 Layoff
Got the email today, looks like 40 ish prone across business development and advisor practice growth etc.
What the he-l is going on? Some leaders who I know and I like. If we are trying to grow the wealth management business, this seems short sighted.
I joined a while back from a competitor to escape their layoffs and now it’s happening here. Seems pretty dispassionate.
They're breaking everything
And it'll be a miracle if anything is still functioning in the near future. Some teams have been almost completely destroyed by the recent moves. What's the actual end game here?

In my opinion, VoA is a circus. If BD really wanted honest feedback, this platform has more than what needed for diagnosis of the issues. Do you expect anything to change with that survey or is it just to warm some “leader’s” pocket?

Tech Risk and Control Impacted
A team member based out of NY got impacted. They are cutting the roles from NY, Tampa, London and moving them to Canada, Mexico and Poland. Take care of yourself people!
How does this company get away with firing so many people?

Beware of Skan
This post is nothing new in regards to WF monitoring employees keyboard/mouse/Teams activity. We have been aware of that since last year. Not sure if all computers at WF are running Skan. If yours has it in the system tray be careful. They are using metrics from Skan to displace people without severance. I know this for a fact so just be sure you aren’t one that takes long breaks or inactive for long periods over days or weeks. Not meant to scare anyone just beware of it.

They used to always be mid March. Then two years ago it was mid April.

Customer Data Leaks in Corporates via Gong
Been seeing a lot of people bashing Corporates lately, and didn't want to miss out on the fun. I wonder what Corporates Customers and Partners would think of they knew every conversation with a sales rep is recorded, and searchable by anyone in the company.
No, I am not joking. Anyone at any time can search a database of 1000s of hours of meetings, and discover in real time which firm, whether it's KPMG, Deloitte, EY, or Accenture and find out who is working on a new opportunity with a potential or existing client. Taking it one step further, as a result of a simple search, anyone can find out who is involved and timing. There is no data privacy, and no controls on who can access information.
You can't make this stuff up. This is Corporates Leadership for you.

I’m sure there are numerous, but the 360 app team is a total mystery to me. No one responds to emails or messages. It’s impossible to get any answers to XDA or FMP. I am starting to think none of them know the programs and aren’t able to answer questions.

Hard to take any of this seriously when the system tracking “presence” can’t even get it right. We’re making decisions and enforcing policy based on data that clearly isn’t reliable, then calling it accountability. If that’s the goal, maybe start with accuracy first.
