Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I'd be willing to pay to WFH

I don't know about you but I would be willing to pay for WFH days.

Anyone else?

Not ideal, especially since they already took a week of vacation away from 20+ year managers; but it would be worth it some days.

Perhaps it's a new revenue stream?

It's complete bullsh-t that so many people are still working remote without any monitoring at all. I don't understand why they have been protected.

Please don’t give them any ideas! If you want to stay home, stay home. But don’t work. Take a mental health day, caregiver time, or if you really want to buy days, buy vacation days. On the flip, to occasionally WFH just start with your home life commitments, broken pipe/plumber apt, car broke down, in the shop 2 days, and the like.

I’ve noticed India postings are WfH. Otherwise our employer would prefer you you quit so they can fill those positions.

The option is available. The average pay for it is 100k rupees a year.

Or they can keep making your life miserable, so you quit.

WFO isn’t exactly providing additional opportunities for promotions or career progressions

You want to pay to do what executives routinely do while getting paid multiples of what you make? Wow...

They could let us work from home occasionally, but that would make you a happy employee. Not the goal.

You can take no pay day right now. There is no pay day off option right now

You will no longer get a paycheck for idle time at home. The care of personal needs after hours.

Uh no, speak for yourself. You already pay with having to take a day off if you have something happening at home (repair, Dr appt, etc.) and can’t come into the office. On our team you aren’t allowed to wfh at all, even though that’s how we all operated long before COVID it’s not allowed. Up to you if you want to work on your day off also. There is no flexibility.

If that’s really how you feel, why don’t you just go work for a different company? Start over? I mean, if you are giving up salary, aren’t you being overpaid?

They are not "protected." They just have more guts than you. Sometimes you have to tell the concentration camp commander, "No, I will not follow that order."
