Catalent cuts staff by 96 in another round of layoffs in Maryland

Catalent is cutting more roles at its gene therapy manufacturing facility in Harmans, Maryland. This round of layoffs will affect 93 employees and will be effective on March 19, according to a Maryland Work Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing.

The state's WARN report also notes the CDMO's dismissal of three other employees in nearby Baltimore.

It looks like I made it through this round

But it doesn’t feel like a win. I really feel for the people who lost their jobs, especially given the current circumstances, and it angers me that so many of them were exemplary employees. I’m not a big fan of my job either. I reached my limit long ago, maxed out on exhaustion, disappointment, and ethical conflict. I’m not glad I survived, I’m just relieved I’ll still have money to pay the bills.

Annual Bonus Payout After Recent Layoffs?

For those of us who were recently impacted by the layoffs, does anyone have clarity on whether we should expect to receive our annual bonus next month?

I remember my manager mentioning that bonuses would be paid out sometime in March, but I’m not sure how that applies to employees who were laid off before the payout date.

Week of Feb 16 Layoffs

Sending good vibes to those affected this week. Some of you had long careers at Juniper and did exceptional work in areas of consolidation. Others of you were also great contributors who just happened to be aligned with people no longer in power now that it's HPE.

Future operating model will lead to more layoffs

The long term goal is for every operating unit including the grassroots upstream oil & gas projects to be operated by 3rd party contract companies who pay far less in health care benefits, pensions, and salaries.

The Guyana offshore upstream operations business model is a textbook example of how ExxonMobil wants to operate our facilities in the future.

Project Crane Continues

As project Crane continues to sla-ghter headcount and increase exec compensation the job market becomes even more unfavorable leaving employees unable to pay their WF mortgages, car payments, personal loans and more. Severance pay is only for people with tenure. So many people we new to wells fargo just a couple of years ago which means at best they might see 2 weeks or so of severance. Pay your bills on that, good luck because its not possible. Unemployment in many states is around $200 a week. What can someone really do with that, NOTHING!!!!

I’m done with this institution from HE-L

I’m a customer (ex-customer starting soon) and an employee. There is no going back after the stunt they just pulled with merit and at the same time they also let go of so many people. All in the same week. How do they look at themselves in the mirror? How? Are y’all possessed? I’m just ready to throw in the towel. The vibe is low, almost like we are in he-l.

VGS

Verizon Global Services leadership turnover continues. This poorly formed and mismanaged organization has been a complete disaster since it started in 2022. The legacy is mostly layoffs, offshoring, chaos and ultimately destroyed lives and careers at all levels. Outside of M&A disasters, VGS must be top of the Verizon list for utter failure. Go beyond!

Some quick tech fixes….

  1. Sec has had hundreds of people working for years and is a sh-t show. Don’t lay off the Nike IC’s. Fire the leadership and the vendor. Nike IC’s have the knowledge and drive and care about Nike. Posting that system performance is good and everyone cheering is embarrassing, only to have issues within hours.
  2. Fire the frontline support managers or only keep the ones that pass an IQ test or a 360 review from their direct reports.
  3. Dissolve resiliency team who just fumble through pretending like they’re bringing real AI benefits with egos that take up 2 workspaces.
  4. Fire the guy that is apparently sleeping with all the HR folks.
  5. Make all the slack channels where people post news articles, sell tickets or peddle their secondhand cr-p only available after biz hours.

BCPS Records Show Planned Staffing Reductions

Internal documents reveal BCPS is preparing for fewer positions. Strategies involve natural departures, removing roles, and leaving some posts empty. This contrasts with public assurances from leadership. Declining student numbers and state funds lead to financial pressure. Specific teaching and administrative roles are targeted for removal.

Branches staying open until 2 starting April 25th

New update. Some branches will start staying open until 2pm instead of noon beginning April 25th. They are sick of paying those “free” hours when you work a half day Saturday. Also going to help more branch employees to quit so they don’t have to pay severance

Bad Earnings Call - Buckle Up

My takeaways - our fearless CEO is just fine if a lot of us quite due to frustration. Major headcount and locations closures coming - call "location optimization" on the call

Leadership seemed to be working overtime to put any negative outcomes on legacy MRC business and the bulk of the positives on the DNOW side

what is even the point of this rebranding exercise?

no , like seriously , what is even the point of this rebranding exercise? the company is already in a huge loss , like legit 75% down this year , and upon all this loss , they wanna spend on the already existing office infra to "change" the logo , what is even the point of this? also i love the fact that they alligned this EXACTLY with the layoff week and shut downt the office globally .GG.

  • coming from someone who was impacted lol

NCR Atleos laid off entire Marcomms org / Marketing

It's a ghost town on 19. They laid off the entire Marcomms team yesterday from the CMO, executive directors, social, literally everyone in GHQ and Serbia!!! This was huge because it wasn't just a few people but more like 70 or so. This seemed really personal or just fed up with a few people and decided to make the rest suffer as a message.
