My PIP Experience

In April, my PDS review was great. The meeting went well, and my manager even asked me to join him for lunch. He told me I had a great year. Two weeks later, they had the ranking meeting in May, and after that I noticed he was avoiding me in the aisles, around the kitchen area… everywhere.
For the PA communication meeting, he sent me an email saying he had come down with a cold and would be WFH. Then, on a zoom call, he told me I was in the PIP category and read some HR formalities. I was shocked. And then he said the infamous sentence: “It shouldn’t be a surprise to you…”
After two weeks, I told him I would do the PIP — and how stupid I was not picking up the clues that the real result was my termination, even before writing the PIP document.
Anyway, the whole three months he tried so hard to hide from me and barely communicated. He documented things like “he came at 9 AM and left at 3 PM,” “he was chatting loudly in the neighborhood area disturbing others,” “he worked from home more than 5 days in the last 4 weeks”… such a pity.
I finished every single thing in the document, and I even started some initiative ideas for a project. But I was out by end of 90 days.

BREC rolls out new initiative with immediate layoffs and hiring freeze

The Recreation and Park Commission of East Baton Rouge (BREC) announced several operational changes on Friday, Jan. 16, including the immediate layoff of about 10% of its workforce. In a news release, BREC said the move is part of a broader effort to become a leaner and more efficient organization, calling it a comprehensive initiative aimed at making bold, strategic changes.

Circularity and Sourcing, A New Xerox Sustainability Initiative?

All the data collection that supports the initiative is an ongoing matrix submitted for supplier governance reason. Nothing changes with the data. And suddenly they are being reused and presented as a new initiative. This is not any reinvention! Just game playing. Coming from the person right at the top, I can conclude that the company is doomed.

GrowthX?

Has anyone managed to work out what Ramnaths latest email on his new initiative, GrowthX, is all about?
I can’t quite work through his management-speak word salad well enough to truly understand what this program is aiming to do.
I’m genuinely interested and will suspend my usual cynicism until I can understand the email.
Confused.

The "First 50" Initiative

Can someone list "First 50" Initiative stores that have been revamped? Is there any in Massachusetts or New England region?

I have visited Nashua and Manchester NH locations and I hope these locations are not on the list. They need help, and corporate needs to step up to meet the needs of the store associates.

I've worked on PQC and QKD intiatives....and it doesn't matter!

Wow! what can I say? No matter what one works on, the only thing that matters is how the second layer L8 thinks of one! Yep, one could be a rocket scientist, but unless one is connected, guess what......NOPE. You are just not the "right fit".
Last time I checked, the ones who could master the technology were kings. It would seem that L8 wants to limit competition to those they can control.
In this case, I feel L8 needs to su-k it up, and go with the flow. But what do I know????

Pointless initiatives

Be honest, how many of the corporate initiatives you’ve been asked to work on are pointless? Reflecting back on the last few years, I’m embarrassed at the amount of work I’ve put into corporate initiatives that are either completely pointless, or totally ineffective. Most of these have either been quietly abandoned or performatively kept alive. For me, it’s nearly all of them. And frankly, it’s affects how I approach current initiatives. I do as I’m told, but don’t really care about the actual quality, since I know it’ll be dead in 12-18 months any way.
