Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

One North American Initiative

I'm assuming this will increase the layoffs?

Hard to trust a company that’s always looking to do layoffs with zero transparency. Everyone knows something is coming, but no one knows when, or how it’s going to be executed

@vz the preceding comments refer more specifically to key accounts for foodservice, convenience stores, those type of accounts where it's same customer team and there's now duplicative people from Frito and beverage chasing those. Number of items sold to those is also limited, so less deep product knowledge needed

Very true that Walmart key account team may already be optimized, etc. same deal on large chain accounts etc where bids may he highly bespoke etc.

But there's areas where cuts are very likely as there's entirely duplicative people

Let’s keep this in perspective. While merging Frito and Beverage will create some overlap, it will be largely limited to office support functions such as finance.

We can’t simply eliminate half of the field sales team. These remain two distinct businesses with different needs. The same applies to KAMs. Retailers often have different buying structures and leadership teams, and the level of internal coordination, politics, and meetings does not disappear.

@n8 maybe if we all started to speak and write plain English that every reader could comprehend- it might help . Remove the acronyms and try again .
Wtf 😬

@n0 yup foodservice accounts are basically entirely duplicated now from Frito and beverages side each

@n0

Merging KAMs and FSRs?!?!??!?

Workplace KAMs are already burdened with 1,000+ COFs that have absolutely nothing to do with key account management… essentially tons of noise / gnats that get them bogged down instead of attending effectively with their actual major key accounts … One of the many reasons why we’ve been losing large C&U and healthcare accounts

Many FSRs wouldn’t know the first thing to do when it comes to managing huge C+U and national 3PO business … used to have seasoned/ polished veterans in those chairs

Look for key account managers and food service reps to merge. Maybe that is why they are getting the company cars gathered up to go back as it’s a easier cutoff if the layoff happens

@OP layoffs correct right away

Then the next step is if combining supplh chain doesnt work...need to pivot to refranchise and that is even bigger layoffs

@b9 that’s the plan. Save a buck anyway we can. Our new motto “Do more with less for less”.
