Got the webex from my boss's boss. I'm out. Last Day 12/20 on payroll. Severance portal opens at 1pm.
Corporate Finance Ops. I'm 53. 9 years with company. 3 years as contractor before that. Band 7.

I want to start downloading all my necessary info like paystubs, benefits, reviews, etc to my personal laptop
Are we safe? Or know anyone affected?
Not even a year here and I got my walking papers. I'm VGS. It was fun knowing you all, I guess.
About 80% of the whole VCG PSM organization was let go. That includes Program and Process Orchestration (PPO), Portfolio, and Project Management (PMO).
Good luck out there!
Verizon business group
If you were impacted, please post your details here. Letting us know your position would help greatly, especially us folks in the West coast.
As a spouse to a former Verizon employee who was riffed several years ago. I understand your fears. I pray all get the decision you wish for. Just know Verizon is a business and no one is irreplaceable. There’s no heart in it. I know what this kind of stress can do to a person. If you are riffed please take it as a blessing and leave Verizon in the rear window of your life. The constant mental torture of worry every few years is devastating to a person’s confidence and self worth sometimes. As my spouse is here in a hospice bed the only thing I’m grateful for is that Verizon means nothing to him. If you have your health and family that’s all you need. Hold your head up and find a job that won’t run you through mental torture every few years. It’ll be worth it no matter how it turns out for you today. I wish you all the best in life.
VBG, SD and AD called.
So sorry. Just had it happen to me. Was read a generic script about how I'm going to receive something 'comprehensive' when I relocated less than two years ago. Can't wait for my 2 weeks of severance!
Just looking for clarity as to how this will unfold. Also, I like my boss, he's a good dude. When will I know if he is safe?
Employed through 2/20 per NJ Law. Severance portal opens at 1ET. EPP extended 1yr though so...woohoo.
Anyone else having the same feeling? I have not heard anything from my Manager or Director…No invites or schedules on their calendar…all team members are just on the edge of their seats even if a new email pops up. But no word if we are all safe or any impact on our team!
Just getting too anxious at this point! I hope at least they let us know if we are safe or not!
All these years down the drain. Never once rated low and never written up. Told my job was being eliminated but yet they want to help train the supervisors taking my techs .
I work in GN&T in the BMET area. Two of my coworkers also notified
They are coming from every direction right now. This is nuts. Not a great way to do this in my opinion.
First time posting, received 1:1 with field supervisor. Other coworker said their 1:1 was expected. One of the thousands gone. Crazy is VZ is only keeping 3 of 12 ops techs that cover SD, IA and NE. Good luck with On Call and fiber cuts. Peace out everyone.
I’ve heard people are being told to take the rest of the day today if they’re given notice, but what about Friday? I can’t imagine coming in tomorrow and pretending everything is BAU after getting laid off today.
**I just got the confirmation that VEC MDU will be reduced from 7 client executives “Fios/5G” to 4 client executives per Team…..YOU HEARD IT FIRST** ask your AD/Sr.Directors to be transparent this time, apparently its to help with the transition of the frontier merger happening in less than 4 months., hopefully they wont be clueless and dont know cause it seems the employees know more than the leaders these days.
Anyone know what roles were effected most? Did they target specific departments or positions? Regional selections
Long term loyal employees are professionals and do understand the changing business environment. If the business has a need and decide to send them out, atleast pick a decent time to do it, well before or after Thanksgiving week.
Don't punch them hard in their face 2 days before Thanksgiving, they have to show their face to their family when they get home.
I’m currently at work checking email and nothing from the ceo but I am in wireline fios customer service but I thought that email would be sent out to all of Verizon I guess not.
Sending prayers to our entire Verizon family.
Those who has received Dan email are safe?
If you are fairly young and get let go, do not burn the bridge because Verizon does rehire in the future, in this job market, it is all about who you know most times.
I hope things work out for all of you -- both those let go and those left to pickup the pieces.
Wonder what 15k negative regiews would do to future talent thinking about joining this place.
13,000 layoffs begin today. Here we go...
Just in case he wanted to talk
Vz team- please use this thread to report if you are impacted. Let’s use the below format
Group—Band—last date
VCG—6–12/30/2025
VBG—7—1/14/2026
Say you get told in a few hours that you're being rif'd. What are you going to say in response to your boss? I know there's no options, just wondering how I'll take it if it happens and what to say in return, other than just sitting there d-mbfounded after giving them 18 years of my life.
Years of layoffs have made a very toxic work culture. People do not want to help their coworkers because they are afraid they might be the next person looking for a job.
You cannot have a work culture where you lay off the most experienced people because they make more and expect those same people to mentor younger employees. Instead, you have created a culture where no one wants to help anyone.
Twas the night before RIF-mas, and all through the store, not a salesman was selling, not one through the door. The severance was printed by HR with care, in hopes that the shareholders soon would be there.
The "V-Team" was nestled all stressed in their beds, while visions of metrics danced in their heads; And supervisors anxious, and I in my cap, had just settled down for a restless, short nap,
When out on the network, there rose such a clatter, I sprang from my laptop to see what was the matter. Away to my Outlook I flew like a flash, to see who was cut to save corporate cash.
The glow of the monitor on the newly fallen snow gave a lustre of panic to objects below. When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a mass email sent at the end of the year,
With a little old driver, so lively and grand, I knew in a moment 'twas the boss of the Brand. More rapid than 5G his notices came, And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:
"Now, Retail! Now, Network! Now, Admin and Billing! On, Tech Ops! on, Support! The numbers are chilling! To the end of the quarter! To the side of the wall! Now slash away! Slash away! Slash away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly, When they meet with a budget, they mount to the sky; So up to the C-Suite the profits they flew, With a sleigh full of bonuses, and dividends too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the call the prancing and pawing of the Town Hall. As I drew in my head and was turning around, the reduction in force came down with a bound.
He was dressed all in suits, from his head to his foot, and his reputation was covered with ashes and soot; A bundle of pink slips he had flung on his back, and he looked like a reaper just opening his pack.
His eyes—how they shifted! His dimples, how scary! His outlook was bullish, his logic was airy! He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, and fired the veterans; then turned with a je-k,
And laying a finger aside of his nose, And hitting "Reply All," up the stock market rose; He sprang to his limo, to his board gave a whistle, And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight— "Happy RIF-mas to all, and to all a good night!"
I think my chances are about 50/50 of being impacted today.
I started at the very bottom and worked my way up over 28 years. In that time, I’ve held—and mastered—multiple roles. These roles allowed me to learn how everything works. I’m one of the few people who truly understands how everything works end-to-end.
I’ve built many systems and processes here that only I fully understand.
So if today is the day I’m “promoted to customer,” I take comfort in knowing Verizon is fu---d. I won’t be here to take anyone's calls, explain how something works, or why it was designed a certain way. I won’t be handing out contacts or filling in gaps or giving out recommendations on solutions to complex issues.
And I also take comfort knowing I’m not alone in feeling this way. A lot of people know where the bodies are buried—and they won’t be helping either.
Good luck.
Seeing all these sycophants “oh the C-some bullsh-t-three-letter” is doing this and that’s the right decision. So many fools running this place and there’s a halo because they get paid highly and therefore must be brilliant. Fu--ing mo--ns every last one. These geniuses had so much time to right the ship.
I think it would be helpful if more of us participated here so we could all benefit from more information.
I see that new threads get 300+ views within a couple of hours, which is great, but I do not feel we have reached critical mass yet.
I would share this internally, but I am worried I might get in trouble if someone were to report me.
I have mentioned it verbally to my team, but that is only about 10 people.
I could post about it on Facebook using a random name, but I doubt that would actually reach anyone useful.
Any ideas or suggestions on how to spread the word safely and effectively?
i think it'd be good if more of us participate here, we'd have access to more info.

Am I likely safe? My store typically performs well and we’re in the Atlantic South. I’ve been with the company for 2 years. Does anyone know anything concrete?
