They pushed RTO hard and productivity somehow dropped instead of improving. Who'd have thought? (Other than everybody with two functioning brain cells, of course.)
Corp locations
It seems most building offices are constrained for space and with the recent return to office, it has made hiring in locations almost impossible. Are they going to open up new buildings are get leases for locations constrained?
Cresta
Is there any good reason to have Cresta installed? We were forced to download it this week. Most of the time it’s in my way and the conversation summaries are not accurate. I don’t see much use for that application other than it probably training AI... — read more
Anyone have any info on what a corrective action plan is?
I’m about to get put on a “corrective action plan” over my AI sentiment score. Does anyone know what that even means? I don’t see anything on the Schweb about it. My accounts seem to like me a lot so getting put on a PIP over the AI giving me a bad... — read more
Hours in office policy
Does Schwab have an official policy for minimum hours in office, or how early/late you can be in the office? My manager mandates 9 hours in office and you cannot leave before 4PM. The two other team managers mandate 7.5 hours with many working... — read more
STS architect gripes
The architect for our organization keeps using Gartner reports , online research and chatgpt to command what the devs need to do. He has no clue on real software development, has not written a line of code and woefully incompetent. Our MD loves the... — read more
Look around the office
The bodies are there but the people aren't. Hundreds have already left in their heads. We do the minimum, watch the clock, and wait for the day we can physically leave too. Schwab did this to itself.
STE reduction of team size?
Have you heard about reducing team size to 10 or less across the board?
Only office = promotion policy
So ridiculous. They are saying no directors except in Westlake or maybe Lone Tree. Even 59 PLs are getting warned during the interview process that they will have to get some sort of difficult approval. Do they genuinely expect everyone to move to... — read more
Accountability
In my time with the firm, there’s been a real shift in leadership in my organization. The current group of MDs doesn’t have the same tenure or approach, and the environment shows it. The previous group wasn’t perfect, but there was a baseline level... — read more
We may not have good leadership…
But at least we have ‘agentic‘ nonsense and a falling stock. That call could have gone worse. No idea how.
Schwab su-ks
Record client growth and growing at rapid pace? But you lay people off and cut costs on benefits…. Cool.
DoorDash
We used to get DoorDash credits all the time … what happened to that ? Is Rick trying to save money?
Contractors, contractors, contractors....
Does anyone have any good experience with contractors at this company? I feel like in my 7 years here they have all been grossly incompetent. They interview well so I'm assuming they're cramming tech stack info before the interview (or are using AI... — read more
Heavy AI push this week. Is something happening soon?
A lot of managers in STS pushing all team members irrespective of their roles to showcase AI Agents and other AI stuff they have created and are using. A lot of boot-camps happening as well. Are they planning to cut roles soon?
So few good managers left here
The good ones are either laid off or leaving. Not that I blame them, considering what Schwab turned into in recent years.
STS office expectations?
I'm aware that People leaders and above have access to badge-in data. One of the STS leaders has been strongly recommending that employees be in the office from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. Is this a standard expectation across firm?
Toxic Work Environment
To every employee that endured the toxic work culture at Schwab, circular, unproductive meetings, meaningless tasks, redlined deliverables, Director micromanagement, bullying, and overall low morale, where others take credit for your work and... — read more
What are your biggest complaints about working in STS?
My top 5 are: Very slow career growth (which is very funny given that we have more levels to go through compared to pure tech companies). Reviews based on position tenure... you can't get an exceeded expectation if you are in your first year on... — read more
Fired for Negative Glint Survey
I was laid off two weeks ago due to organizational changes in our area. However, I later heard from a former coworker that our Director became aware of a negative Glint survey I had submitted, where I expressed concerns about our team being... — read more
Thoughts on Pending Internships and Employment After
Is it possible that the upcoming summer internship program may be cancelled? I'm surprised it's continuing, considering recent layoffs. Do you think they'll be able to offer any FT positions after the internship ends, given layoffs and the economy?
Ai
Love go we are adding ai then teaching ai so it could take out most of us out — compliance, processing, managers any mid level.
STS morale
How is the morale? It feels like rock bottom here in Denver. All the leaders in TX and completely disconnected from the business and staff. Is there any org thats even half decent? It used to feel the infrastructure, CTO architecture are the main... — read more
If I Leave, Does Quarterly Service Bonus Still Pay
If I make it to EOQ, I've done that quarters work. If I leave before the quaterly service bonus pays out end of April, do I still get that pay?
How is Remote Day Tracked?
If I badge into the office, is that a day in the office, even if I also have logged in at home and had to authenticate through PingID on the same day?
Severance Pay Date? (3/16)
When to expect the following: Regular pay for work up to 3/13 Severance lump sum payment Unused PTO (floating and accrued) Stock program refund (April Session)
I'll never trust Schwab again
I still think about a meeting where they told us we were crushing our goals. The vibe was good, people were relaxed, and it actually felt like things were going right for a change. Then a week later, half the team was gone. It’s hard to believe... — read more

RTO “Compliance” Effect on Review

Schwab isn't what it used to be
There was a time when leadership here actually cared about people over profits. I was proud to be part of it. Then things shifted and the cuts started coming, one after another, cold and methodical. The message is clear now. People don't matter. Only... — read more
Layoffs on the 23rd - true or false?
Any updates?
What does severance look like?
If anyone is comfortable sharing details.
RTO only for phone slaves
There is no way RTO is being enforced equally. The only people who are being forced to come in are the people on the phones. I walk the floors
March 23rd (Second Round)
I am hearing that there will be more layoffs on the 23rd. Some loud mouth that sits near me keeps bragging about how they are supposed to be quite. I guess he feels like one of the cool kids because they are in the loop.
Has anyone successfully negotiated severance pay?
Any tips? Do you just send an email to HR asking for more?
Criteria For recent events 3.16?
What was the corporate message, your departments message, verses reality. Location? Title? Remote? Badge swipes? Recent unexplained negative review? Work being shifted away just before? Took a package?
Toast
Knew it was coming. Another day, another layoff. Reorg. Nonsense. It's Tuesday morning and I'm not going in today. I'm still awake. I've had it. There's no trust. No respect. No reward. Wednesday is the day another employee quiet quits. If I go in.
So sorry for everyone impacted today
Especially those who really couldn't afford to lose their jobs right now. I see that a lot of seniors have been impacted. He-l-bent on destroying institutional knowledge. Boggles the mind.
Layoffs have been hitting small numbers across orgs?
At least that’s how it looks. Any org that’s been spared?
